We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail! [President Bush]
Good morning!! Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave member of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!
Reuters is reporting that North Korea warned that if sanctions are imposed against it for its nuclear weapons development program, it will mean war.
The Washington Times is saying the troop buildup is moving along in such a way that a February attack against Iraq could be ordered by the President.
Meanwhile, the Iraqi Government announced it is building two defense rings around Baghdad. The outer ring is composed of regular Iraqi army and Republican Guards. The Iraqis expect that defense line cannot be held, so they have built an inner line, composed of "Special Republican Guards." (This is the first such mention of these units I have come across - wonder if that was because of the miserable showing of the "vaunted" Republican Guards in the 1991 war. Wonder if these "Special" units will do any better.) The Iraqi Government says it is upon this defense line the American army will break.
Stateside - Dick Gebhardt announced he will not run for any more Congressional terms after his time in the 108th Congress is over.
For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.
In my area of the Washington region, we only had a few flakes. It varied quite a bit, but southern and eastern suburbs got up to 2-3 inches depending on location.
Why is the Government involved in something like this?
I've wondered that myself. Since I've been working at NASA this past year I've heard almost no one speak of this program. The only place I've seen it mentioned is in a couple of mainstream media stories. It's running below the radar screen within NASA, so to speak.
Every so often, certain neat-minded members of his staff have to clean out his office and desk for him. They can't take it anymore!
Our cat seems to be on the mends, but we have to monitor his potty habits. Male cats can easily get plugged up with crystals. We have been feeding him the special urinary cat food, but I guess it wasn't working well enough. I'm happy we caught it early. It could have been fatal in as little as 48 hours or less.
He seems to be doing well.
Sarah simply must become a vet. All these pets are costing a fortune. I couldn't live with myself knowing we didn't at least try to cure the cureable.
Bit, ABG, and Dog, I enjoyed reading your posts on Gallipoli, Churchill, etc., yesterday.
Awhile back, I read about the Battle of Arnhem, fall of '44. It was a disaster of planning and execution....
mostly on the British part, if I remember correctly....(hope MadIvan doesn't read this...)
Anyway, it made me think of what I'd read about the failed Scott polar expedition early in the century.
The author of the book I read concluded that the British emphasis on gentlemenly amateurism was responsible.
IOW, the ethic was AGAINST professionalism in planning and carrying out such an enterprise, in contrast to the the well-thought-out Amundsen operation, where all details were covered and carried out, thus leading to success.
And in such an overwhelming hostile environment, details were important.
But the British had this prejudice against such thorough business-like planning. And Scott became a national hero in his failure and death!!
The Arnhem campaign seemed to have some of the same elements, much to the Americans' disgust.
I also remembered details about the critical, immediate days after D-Day, where the Americans were surprised and dismayed to see the British troops stop to take tea breaks!
LOL! If that's true, then I guess my "thought processes" are beyond stratospheric proportions based on how my desk looks!!!
So I guess if I were to clean my desk, my thought processes would sink to a level where I might just understand what some of these liberals keep babbling about....now there's an endorsment for never cleaning my desk if I've ever heard one!!!!!
Geek question....would $44.00 be a good price for a MEMORY SDRAM PC100 256MB DIMM PNY?
After upgrading my daughter our computer feels left out and deprived. :-)
Glad to hear all is well in your neck of the woods...
Hope everyone else here in the storm's path is also safe and secure!
