The DR's said I'd be stone deef by the age of 15 Mo, but after taking out my tonsils and adenoids, I was just fine. Of course they don't do that much today, and it seems to be a cure for a lot of kids they do it to in finality..

I had abscesses all the time, and they had to go inside and open them.. Most times they would put me out at home..

I don't understand the new stuff they do with ears, but ear trouble seems more prevalent today.. I wonder why?

Mrs.L had the same problem as a kid - instead of being goofy, she simply couldn't hear was going on around her.

I can relate .. I lost the hearing in my right ear .. for some reason everyone just like to make fun of me instead of realizing I had a problem ..

Rock and Roll? (More seriously, headphones creating a warm moist environment for things to grow, and be shared friend to friend?)...

Nully, you probably won't believe me, but my brother invented the Smoo. He had whole cartoon strips he had made up and I watched him draw them.

He sent them to the Boston Globe to see if they would carry the strip in the paper, and never had it copy-writed, and the next thing we knew, Al Capp came out with the Smoo..

He was a tief, like me and Loddy.. ;)

Now the hearing is fine, but she's hard of listening...

That will begin to improve when she reaches her 30s

Well from what I understand they put the tubes in so that if there is an ear infection it will drain out of the ear instead of staying in the ear .. which it does and is kind of gross too .. but this time it didn't drain out and stayed in her ear canal.

chronic infections can destroy the tiny bones in your ear canel that help you hear .. mine in my right ear are pretty much gone which is why I can't hear out of it

She had her tonsils and adenoids taken out because the tonsils were huge and she had troubles getting a good night sleep because she wasn't breathing right.. I still remember her snoring as an infant ..

But not the adenoids, right? That seem to be what cured me..the Tonsils weren't the biggest problem. Of course I got some weird thing in Cancun the last year I was there, and the Dr said my ear was completely closed up. They gave me Penicillin and some meds to take out fluid, but the ear has never been the same.. I know I'm partially deef in it now. I never did find out what I caught.

A lot of kids in my family have had the tubes.. They seemed to work ok I guess.

Don't worry, I'm half blind also .. LOL

Yes they took the adenoids out .. I'm just not sure why ..

The poor kid had to have all of this done the day before her birthday and a week before easter .. but she handled it all pretty good

The hubby gets to do all this in 2 weeks (except the tubes) and something tells me .. he ain't gonna handle it AT ALL .. LOL

At least they don't give you Ether anymore. When I had mine out and probably Gran too, the nausia and dry heaves from the anesthesia was worse than the pain in the throat.

Oh ghod Swerv, you just turned my stomach talking about it.. I had Ether 12 or 13 times in one year between my teeth and ears. I can feel and see the spinning whirlwind now.. and hear the buzzzzzzzz as you go under..

I still have nightmares about it now and then..
