Record breaking Nor'easter hits on Christmas Day...upwards of two feet of snow have been recorded and many airports and major highways were shut down.

We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail! [President Bush]

Good morning!! Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!

We had soo much to feast on yesterday, I sent my brother home with a "care" package of left overs (including a big bag of cookies, and the pixie got her OWN little bag of chocolate Chip Cookies)...but we still have plenty more left overs....Bit and I are all stuffed and are swearing off food for the next few days.

We're in the southern part of VA while my husband does work here. I love this state. We've driven all over it, except for the northern part. Only once have we ventured north. It was pretty up there, but rained the whole weekend, so we didn't get to see much. Good luck on your move and congratulations on your promotion.

Morning everybody!

Take a look at this, 10 years ago, Ted Koppel bought property and made sure that there was a restrictive covenant on adjacent land, to limit the size of his neighbors' homes. Now his lawyers are measuring the size of his neighbors' foundations, and sueing them!

Nothing supprises me when it comes to these limosine liberals. They want everything for themselves that they have no trouble denying everyone else...

Koppel is just another liberal "donkey excavation" (think about it a moment...it'll come to you!).

God bless you, GC! I really mean that. I trust that God will give you sweet rest soon.

About your diet, I have had 3 false starts myself and yesterday was good....until I went to my parents' place in the evening and was surrounded by carbohydrates.

We're going to a couple of places to look for sofas today. My sister is coming along as we value her opinion and she knows the best places to shop.

First, though, we have to pay our internet bill which we accidentally let slide in our move. They've threatened to cut us off. Can't let that happen!

Dateline: Rhinebeck, NY--

We made it last night - about two hours behind plan. All things considered that was not bad (it was snowing so hard in northern New Jersey that at one point the GPS lost its lock on the satellites!).

Looks like we have about 14" on the ground - I haven't been outside yet, but that's what it appears to be.

I now know exactly what it is like to be on the inside of one of those snow globes when someone shakes it.

Several points visibility was near zero as we approached and drove through New York. Made one wrong turn off of the Garden State Pkwy, trying to get Highway 87 north (don't go this way often, but chose it this time because of the weather forecast). Signs were covered, assumed it would be the left exit. Ended up on Highway 87 south. Had to turn around.

Many people forgot Highway 87 south of exit 16 has 30' of legal pavement. Must have been a half dozen or so yayhoos I had to avoid because they kept drifting left.

Wind would add to the confusion. Very strong. Anytime there was a clear shot (when our Thruway travel direction was NNE), much snow was picked up and blown around. White out. Time to hope the SUV keeps going straight based on last visual of snow stakes and reflectors.

Speaking of SUVs - note to the eko-wackos: SUVs and other 4-wheel drive vehicles were about the only ones who were not having great problems last night. Did not see a single one of those in the ditch. Cannot count how many front-wheel drive cars spun out or had difficulty climbing hills.

There was this one car, a Honda, that left the Thruway paved surface to the right. Car was in a foot of snow. These guys were trying to extricate the vehicle with their hands.

Hats off to the emergency crews. Many police and ambulance vehicles out on the Thruway last night trying to get to these people.

As an illustration of visibility: Approaching the Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge. On the west side going east there is a toll barrier. The lights on the building, let alone the building itself, did not become visible until you were already in the toll plaza area itself - about 200 feet from the structure. Snow stakes (the orange reflectors placed on the left hand edge of dual-roadway pavement) were often not visible beyond 50 feet). Many portions of the trip north from Spring Valley, NY (that's just after you cross into New York state from New Jersey on the Parkway), was like that.

Looks nice outside this morning. Wouldn't know the chaos of yesterday. Nice blue sky, calm air, and snow on everything.

Why are so many "donkey excavations" drawn into journalism? More journalists these days are admitting that there are way more liberals among their members than conservatives, but they try to deny that their personal views enter into their work. When we've got a Ted Koppel trying to limit the size of his neighbors' houses, how can we believe that he and other journalists won't try to impose their political views on the rest of the world?

Good morning Neets and ALL you wonderful people. It sounds as though everyone was blessed with a wonderful Christmas..snow and ALL.

Hubby and Sarah gave me a 10 piece set of stainless steel cookware.

The horse statue was a hit with Sarah.

The number one present of the day was for the number #1 wage earner and all around nice guy. I bought an arc welder for Hubby. He walked around most of the day with the protective helmet on looking like DarthVader. LOL

My question to all you men out there? What's the excitement over an arc welder? :-)

Happy birthday, Mr. Marple. May your day be a delight.

Glad things worked out for the Scout Reindeer, Santa, and the snow plowing. Since we didn't hear from either of you we were getting concerned.

Wish Mr. M a Happy Birthday from all of us!

Coop ~~~ my hubby, the coffee addict, got a big kick out of a gift I found for him ...... caffeintated soap! Yes, s-o-a-p. It's supposed to help you really get waked up in the morning ..... LOL!

A very valid question/concern. Of course, these liberal DEs (donkey excavations) will assure us that they have "our best interests" at heart when they try to shove their socialist agendas down our collective throats.

And as they'll remind us, we should be happy that we have them looking out for us as "they" know so much better what is best for us...
