Searching around for some fun pictures of Byrd I came across this little nugget:
Byrd, widely respected as the constitutional conscience of the Senate, said the trial is essentially futile because there will never be enough votes to convict the president and remove him from office. Two-thirds of the Senate, or 67 votes, are needed to convict. Where else but at... ABC News?

your = you're
sigh. I hate when I do that!
To: BigWaveBetty
Isn't that something? Rugged individualism - and self-sufficiency - is what made this nation great. Whiney collectivism and reliance on government handouts will destroy it, but that seems to be just dandy in Gov. Dean's cozy socialist worldview.

Next time Fiddlin' Bobby Byrd comes to my neck of the woods to visit his constituents, I'm going to greet him wearing a sheet and carrying a sign that says, "Longing for the old days, Senator?"

Now that you mention it, I haven't seen a white sheet in ages. To save you time and trouble I have researched where to find the best white sheets at the lowest price. (Imagining someone as colorful as yourself doesn't have any white sheets around the house.)

Actually, we're a 100% cotton white sheet family! Oops, no political overtones, we just like white sheets. (Mr. M is partial to Ralph Lauren sheets, to be precise).

I'm so hoping they allow cameras in the court room for this one!
Veteran entertainer Liza Minnelli and her husband, David Gest, have filed a $23 million lawsuit against VH1 and others for dropping plans to air a reality show centered on their lives. The couple's court papers say they contracted in July to shoot 10 one-hour episodes, which were to air on the cable music channel, for $1.25 million.
But in October, after filming more than 60 hours of the couple's personal and professional lives, the defendants "abruptly and unlawfully terminated the contract," court papers allege. [snip] Billboard
Should be interesting to learn just what it was that caused VH1 to back out.

Well, I'm certainly very glad I imagined and didn't assume! :-)
Touchy, touchy.
Brad Pitt is sought after for magazine covers and posters worldwide, but the Malaysian government believes the Hollywood star's appearance in a recent series of Toyota car advertisements in this region was "an insult to Asians."
Zainuddin Maidin, deputy information minister, said Monday in Kuala Lumpur that ads featuring models and personalities who don't look Asian would "plant a sense of inferiority among Asians," national news agency Bernama reported.
"Why must we use their faces in our advertisements?" Zainuddin was quoted as saying. "Aren't our own people handsome enough?" [Is this guys picture in the dictionary under simpleton?]
Zainuddin said the government recently pulled the plug on the ads, which ran in newspapers and TV in Malaysia and other Asian countries. "We canceled the ads," he said, "because they were considered an insult to Asians." Newsday
God forbid an American should say something this stupid. A world wide uproar would ensue.
The little Bratt has arrived! Julia will be so jealous.
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Actor Benjamin Bratt (news) and his wife, actress-model Talisa Bratt, announced the birth of their first little Bratt, er, child on Monday.
The little girl, named Sophia Rosalinda Bratt, was born in New York City on Dec. 6. She weighed a healthy 7 pounds, and is the first child for both Bratts. The baby's birth was announced on her father's 39th birthday.[snip] Yahoo
Congrats to the happy parents.

I am also a White Sheet gal.
White lace in the guest bedroom, and white knit jersey in the master bedroom. It's cold up here and that jersey is comfy cosy.
To: mountaineer
Same here. Been there done that with all the fading patterned stuff. White rules - 200 count cheapos from JCPenny's. We hate slick bedding.

Is the jersey better than flannel? It's almost a party when it finally gets chilly enough here to break out the flannel gear.

Go figure! Jersey does sound like a good idea.

It's almost a party when it finally gets chilly enough here to break out the flannel gear. We've been loving the chilly weather down here lately, but then something happened.... I bought firewood on Monday so naturally it has warmed up. Floridians and tourists can thank me for the heat wave we're about to have.

Jersey far beats flannel. Flannel pills. The more you wash jersey the softer it gets. It's like sleeping in an old T shirt. I can't wait to crawl into bed.

I like Ralph Lauren sheets, too, but not white - I think because I get enough white sheets in hotel rooms.
Have you guys seen the proposed designs for replacing the WTC towers? You can see them (if you can get the addy to come up -- I think it's probably overloaded right now): www.renewnyc.com

You think you do a KKK All White Sheet Sale on the Home Shopping Network, with special guest call-ins...from the floor of the US Senate, no less ;-)That would make a good spoof!
To: Hillary's Lovely Legs
Thanks. I'll hie my happy a** to Tuesday morning and check it out! Thanks again.
