Algore, the man who was bred to be President,

I did a twist on the polenta, instead of milk or water, I used a mix of buttermilk and milk and a little parmeasean cheese.

Wow! Good that you informed the main office.

Remember me telling you that I delivered books once?

For the first few days everything went smoothly. I was driving my Chevy Chevette and delivering the books to the doors. Pulled up to this one house...got out of the car...walked toward the door..the lady of the house YELLS...."get back in your car...get back in your car!!!" Hard of hearing that I am I said, "what?"

Next thing I know this HUGE German Shepherd comes running from behind the house with the man of the house running after him. The dog IS going to attack me. I took the phone book....shoved it by the dog's mouth...the dog rips it...I beat feet it to my car....the dog runs after me....I get in the car...the window is open..the dog is almost eye level with me. I have never rolled a window up so fast in my life.

Meanwhile both the owners look at me while I motion to them and say...pointing to the ripped book..."There's your book!!"

Needless to say, I was a tad shaken, but I continue to the next house. While I pull into the driveway....2 Dobermans come to my car. I beep the horn. The owner comes out and says.."They won't hurt you." I explain to her what happened earlier. She tells me that the dog who attacked me is a guard/sentry dog.

Boy, was I ticked. What if that had been a child?

Now you know why I waited to tell you about my directory delivering experience.

Happy you completed your route...very happy you are in your new home....goats and all. :-)

Can't say I have heard of those kinds of walls, gc. When we built our house the plans called for no plywood sheathing..just tuff R..a kind of styrofoamy type rigid board. We decided to use plywood instead.

The only work we contracted out was the basement and plumbing.

Can you believe it? The county would not let hubby do the plumbing, but he could do ALL the electrical. Guess they weren't worried about us electricuting ourselves..just worried hubby would install a faucet upside down and we would drown when we turned it on, LOL

Wish I lived closer..Hubby and I would love to build your house. :-) It would be fun, that is, everything but the drywall...ack!!

Just a brief wave-by. You asked the other day for the CD that had the Mormon Tabernacle Choir performing 'Little Drummer Boy'. Here is the information.

When we were building our family cabin, the only work that was contracted out was the plumbing. My mom was always afraid that my dad or one of my brothers would be electrocuted when they were doing the wiring, but so far, so good.

And now that I have killed the thread dead, I am off for the evening. Don't have too much fun without me. I may not be back online until Friday.

I came to one house on my second day that seemed all peace and quiet. When I was halfway to the house, one of these

came around the corner raising a protest over my presence. I stared him down, my mind spinning quickly as I backed up to the pickup and jumped in for safety. Yikes!

Thanks for not telling me about your experiences, Lysie! I just earned $172 the HARD way. But the goats seem to know what I've done for them. They're eating out of my hand already and treating me like I belong.

How did the move go?

I'm stopping by the house for one more load today. I begged off of the church Christmas program so I can do this load -- oh, and to get the TV set up and watch the Titans tear apart the Patriots!

I'm tired and things look pretty disorganized at both houses, but I know I've got a nice, new bed to sleep on tonight and right now that's sounding pretty darned good.

Oh, and I don't think I'm going to miss the constant traffic of the highway we've been living on for 5 months.

I'm glad you are getting moved, safely. I'm sure the goats appreciate it also. :)

I'm tired and things look pretty disorganized at both houses,

It took 3 years for me to find a particular rifle after we moved. Granted, it was a small, knock down .22 (AR-7), but it takes forever to relocate and reposition everything.

Very old. I bet the barrel is half a country mile long, if I recall correctly. Twice as long as my little AR. Those are good squirrel and rabbit rifle.

John, thanks for your help. You are STILL a geek and we artist types will forever be depending on people like you!

(Artist type? Did I really call myself an artist type?)
