AMERICA - The Right Way!! (Day 683) [Remember the Trade Center!!]
Various News Sources and FReepers | December 4, 2002 | All of Us

Posted on 12/04/2002 4:18:07 AM PST by Chairman_December_19th_Society

We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail! [President Bush]

Good morning!! Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!

WINTER STORM #2 - UPDATE

...STORM IS MOVING SLOWLY OUT OF TEXAS
...HEAVY ICING TO OCCUR IN NORTH CAROLINA
...HEAVY SNOW OCCURRING IN TENNESSEE
...HEAVY SNOW LIKELY IN CENTRAL VIRGINIA
...WINTER STORM WARNINGS AND WATCHES FROM MISSOURI TO NEW JERSEY

The center of WS-2 is located near the middle of the TX/LA border, and is moving toward the NE. This motion is expected to accelerate through the day today, bringing winter weather conditions to the northern Dixie coastline sometime early Thursday.

In the Washington area, a Winter Storm Watch is in effect, but it is possible this will be upgraded to a warning this morning. Likely amounts in the National Capital would be around 4". Sleet is most likely to the SE of the city.

Storm track, except for the slowing, continues as before with the greatest threat along a line moving along the TN/KY border, into VA to near Fredericksburg.

In the news:

Hezbollah is calling for global homicide bombing attacks.

US intelligence says it is possible a Russian scientist sold Iraq a particularly virulent strain of smallpox.

And UOx42, in speaking to fellow members of the Criminal Party, told them that "[they] don't need to be more liberal, but [they] do have to be more relevant in a progressive way."

For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.

Your 36. That would be a great way to get lanes and same money, its too easy for the govt NOT to think of this. I also think that the neutral ground between the interstates would be a good place to put railroad tracks to run passenger trains.

I think Jackson coming is a death blow to her, not many folks like him there. 'Zip' Clinton is a no-no for sure and its sure coming out she only votes with the prez when she needs something. I pray that she gets defeated, big time.

Got my 2 hour walk in after taking gd to school then, went to the store and got leg quarters for .19 a pound, pretty good price. Take the skin off, garlic, onions, cajun powder, salt. pepper, in the crock pot all day and ahhhhh, so good.

It sure does sound good! I'm cooking a brisket of beef in the old crock pot today.

Hurrah!! A Vandy Law School Prof, Carol Swain, on Fox News talking about diversity among Blacks.....If she isn't an out and out conservative, she surely comes close.

Criticized Belafonte...affirmative action....reparations for slavery....mentioned current slavery among Islamic countries in Africa....

I have been noticing the attempts to draw parallels between a Gore second attempt and other candidates who were first defeated and then ran and won the second time.

The list includes Jefferson, Jackson, and Cleveland. I think there was one more.

That set to considering old political slogans that really worked.. There was "I Like Ike." and many others. But perhaps the most successful presidential campaign slogan of all time was "Tippicanoe and Tyler too."

I was tinking that the Democrats could revive and revise that great slogan. Since Gore is always reinventing him self, I was thinking... "Tipper's new Do and Lieberman too."

WINTER STORM #2 - UPDATE

[Focus of this update is on Virginia.]

Snow aloft has reached as far north as Front Royal, VA. There is wrapping around the "cone of silence" for the Sterling radar, so aloft issues closer into Washington, DC, cannot be resolved.

Steady precipitation is falling across virtally the entirety of southern Virginia now - along a line basically defined by Highway 64 - south of the line there is precipitation, mainly in the form of snow, while north of the line any precipitation is evaporating before reaching the ground. Precipitation falling in the Tidewater area is probably sleet and freezing rain in the western cities, and rain in Norfolk and Virginia Beach - as temperatures there are near 40.

The storm center is in west central LA, moving slowly NE. The precipitation shield, however, is quite some distance away from the center.

Sterling NWSFO anticipates that precipitation will begin falling in the Washington, DC, metro area - it is already reaching the ground in the extreme SW of the CWA - by midnight. So far, that time estimate appears reasonable. Snow should start somewhere between 10 PM and 12 AM based on radar movement.

I've been hearing that our weather is to turn worse and temps to get colder. Right now there's ice hanging from the branches and some cars caked in ice, but it's been raining with no trace of sleet or snow. Very weird, if you ask me.

I got caught up on grading papers so I'm going to head home. I'm hoping to find a part-time job to last through the end of the year so this will give me more time today to do a job hunt.

I'm still here, but going to head out soon. First, though, I wanted to report on my job interview.

Last time I interviewed with the academic director and yesterday was with the executive director. I really liked him a lot. He's formerly of Belmont University, a Souther Baptist school next to Vanderbilt. We had a nice chat and I learned more about the history of the school and what direction they're moving in.

There was no job offer just yet as he has yet to make a final decision, in conjunction of the acting director at their new location, about a new program for "undocumented workers," but if they move ahead on that, it sounds like it would start in January. I got no indication that they had any reservations about hiring me.

Please pray about my current job situation. I'm not making enough and we've got our first house payment in January. I really need to find at least a part-time job to last until January. Shouldn't be too hard, I guess, but I'm not sure how to go about looking. Maybe Walmart?

St. Louis has been caught a bit unprepared for the snow today. This system was predicted to be to the south of us, but it hit square on, started snowing about 5:00AM, so it made rush hour a mess. And since they didn't expect the snow to come so far north, they didn't prep the roads the way they normally would. (Local news is reporting that it took some people 3 1/2 hours to do a normally 20 min commute.) At about 8:00 this morning, they were predicting the snow to taper off within an hour......it's still snowing here!
