We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail! [President Bush]
Good morning!! Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!
Weather discussion: A strong ridge of HP is building southward into CONUS which will bring very cold temperatures deep into the eastern half of the Nation, possibly as far south as the Gulf coast states. Temperatures in locations removed from the coast will likely be in the teens and single digits. Only along the immediate coastline will temperatures likely remain near freezing. Meanwhile, LP is forming in Texas. Because of the existing thermal gradient, and the HP center not moving as far south as expected yesterday, the LP center will have an opportunity to tap some Gulf Stream moisture as it moves ENE across Dixie with an expected emergence into the Atlantic near Kitty Hawk, NC, late Thursday. Snow is likely across much of the south, while much of the mid-Atlantic north of Philadelphia and all of New England seeing less precipitation. The situation is somewhat dynamic, and things might change over the next 24 hours.
Warnings Expected: Winter Storm Warnings will likely be posted across several locations through Tennessee, North and South Carolina, Viriginia, and Maryland by tonight.
Weather forecast for Washington, DC, Baltimore, Southern Maryland, Northern Virginia, and the Eastern panhandle of West Virginia:
Cold today, high near 35, except upper 20s west. Turning sharply colder tonight, low near 15 in Washington to the single digits in the Blue Ridge. Remaining cold on Wednesday, snow developing late and spreading across the entire forecast region by early Thursday. Low Wednesday in the 20s. Strong NE winds likely Thursday with little increase in temperature. Snow Thusday. Several inches possible. Winter Storm Warnings will likely be posted late this evening.
In the news:
The United States has said they do not trust Saddam and believe he is working hard to dupe inspectors. While inspectors actually got into a "Presidential Palace" and found nothing (no surprise, BTW), a search of a missile factory, according to CNN, came up with items missing that had been identified in previous inspections years ago.
President Bush is likely to announce a mass innoculation campaign for Americans against smallpox in the next day or so. The plan is to first vaccinate around 1,000,000 folks - about 500,000 in the military and another 500,000 health care workers. The second step would be first responders - about 10,000,000 souls. Finally, the general public would be offerred the vaccine if they wanted it.
Russia and China have both urged North Korea to give up nuclear weapons.
Israel has announced that any mass terror attack on that Nation would open the door to a response that were hitherto "unnaceptable to public opinion."
For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.
I do worry when the so called 'conventional wisdom' begins piling on......it's usually a sign of something sinister afoot from the America haters in the media.
Mozie ~~~ wish it was you instead of us!
This will update every 10 minutes.
Notice the "reds" forming in east Texas, SW LA - these are just SW of the center of rotation, which is located now just inside the LA border from TX, about halfway between the coast and AR.
That should be WS-2, not WS-3.
I have a whole collection of stuff: souvenirs from the campaign, pictures, CHRISTMAS cards, magazines, newspapers, etc. I am as bad as Howlin's mom, who insisted on hand-carrying her box labeled "Bush stuff" when they moved! LOL!
...WINTER STORM WATCH AREAS EXTENDED
...WINTER STORM WARNINGS POSTED
Winter storm warnings are now in effect across much of the border region between Arkansas and Missouri, and Kentucky and Tennessee. Heavy snow is possible in the Tennessee/Kentucky region - amounts in excess of 10" possible.
Winter storm warnings are in effect for the western two-thirds of North Carolina. This warning is mainly for extreme icing possibility, though some snow is also forecast for this area.
Winter storm watches have now been extended to the entirety of Maryland and Virginia, except for the Tidewater and Eastern Shore regions. Winter storm watches have also been extended to the Philadelphia metropolitan area, as well as the southern two-thirds of New Jersey. This watch is for the possibility of snow exceeding amounts of 4".
Winter Weather Advisories have been posted for the balance of North Carolina except for the coastal counties. This advisory is mainly for the possibility of freezing rain.
Moisture content available for precipitation in this storm is in the 1-1.5" range (though near 2" in northern Tennessee). Along the Atlantic litorral, much of the moisture will be expended in condensing the atmospheric column because the air is currently very dry - in other words, much of the initial precip will never reach the ground as it will evaporate on the way down.
The storm center appears on track and speed, as adjusted this afternoon.
Winter Storm Warning posted for the piedmont of South Carolina.
Winter Storm Watch posted for NE Georgia.

I'm not saying this book will not be good, I'm just cautioning that the writer does have a 'history'.......
Just bought a queen mattress set and think I got a great deal. Also just gassed up the pickup for $1.10/gal. at Walmart. How do they do it?
