AMERICA - The Right Way!! (WEEKEND EDITION - Days 665 and 666) [Remember the Trade Center!!]
Various News Sources and FReepers | November 16, 2002 | All of Us

Posted on 11/16/2002 4:33:01 AM PST by Chairman_December_19th_Society

We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail! [President Bush]

Good morning!! Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!

Jiang Zemin may have stepped down as President of China, but he still retains control of that Nation's military.

Director Tom Ridge is expected to be nominated as the first Secretary of Homeland Security.

And Britain's Medical Officer (akin to our Surgeon General) announced that his country will begin an education campaign to inform British subjects how to respond to a biological or chemical attack.

For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.

What an absolutely gorgeous home you grew up in! I can only imagine the interior woodwork and craftmanship.

After the death of my first husband I was fortunate to buy a house similar..only about half the size. I ..to this day..miss that house. The woodwork was outstanding and the staircase was spectacular..IMHO.

What a house!

You grew up there?... WOW!

An absolutely gorgeous home.

So... the big question we all want to know is...Who washed the windows?

Yes, the woodwork was spectacular. Someone we knew said they once saw a small book about our house and especially about the woodwork in it. Swedish craftsmen were brought over to do the work back when it was built in 1908.

Oh, and the house used to be pictured on postcards in the 20's.

It's a Bed & Breakfast now.

Thanks for the prayers.

Yeah... I don't tune in long for these shows on C-Span. I too get disgusted with the whining...

I know that I grew up not fully appreciating the beauty of our house, but maybe even more how hard my mother worked to keep that place clean and kept up.

Of course, I enjoyed every chance I got to get out on the roof to wash screens and windows. I have a thing for heights.

Thanks Lysie for your thoughts.

I can't take the credit for being a "great dad". It comes from God, my parents, and my beautiful wife, who is a great mother to these kids.

Wow! What a house. I bet it is an absolutely wonderful B&B.

Where is it located?

Climbing round that roof?...

Now that would be fun, wouldn't it?

What a delight.

We too had our share of window cleaning in high places. Maybe that's why my brothers and I chose the Air Force. *Grins*

What a beautiful house!! Since it's a B & B, have you been able to return to it? This is in what...Kansas, Nebraska?

NY, Prayers for your daughter and your decision. She's one special girl.

I wish I could take a few needle pricks for your daughter. I'll send a prayer up so she feels less discomfort.

I hate needles. I hate getting blood drawn. The worst case was every time we were on levy or a REFORGER, we had to get a gazillion shots. Makes me hurt just thinking about it.

Where is it located?

If you ever find yourself driving along Highway 6/34 in southwest Nebraska, you'll probably drive right by it. It's in the little town of Cambridge and is now called ingeniously "The Cambridge Bed & Breakfast".

NY, my love of heights led me to climb to the top of a 1466-foot TV tower in St. Paul, Minnesota when I was in college. I did it not just once, but 7 times. Each time, of course, was in the middle of the night.

Have a great day, Guenevere. Sounds like a lot for 1 day.

Some of us from church are delivering breads in the neighborhood and for shut-ins today around noon.

I baked 8 small pumpkin breads yesterday afternoon.

Prayers for your daughter NY. Our little girl is very small for her age. She just recently made it onto the growth charts, but what a blessing God has provided.

It looks like Saddam is getting ready to bolt to Libya. Here's an excerpt from an article at the London Times.
SADDAM HUSSEIN has made secret plans for his family and leading members of his regime to be given political asylum in Libya in the event of a war with America or a successful internal coup in Baghdad.

The extraordinary steps taken by the Iraqi leader to provide an exit strategy for key relatives and associates, which includes paying $3.5 billion (£2.3 billion) into Libyan banks, provide the first evidence that Saddam is now facing up to the prospect of being toppled from power.

Even as he makes public statements of defiance and vows to defend his country against an American invasion, The Times has learnt that Saddam’s secret emissaries have been visiting Libya and Syria to ensure that there is an escape route for his family and top cronies.

The deal with Tripoli does not include providing refuge for Saddam or for Uday, his eldest son. If either were to seek political asylum in Libya, Colonel Muammar Gaddafi would come under intense international pressure, particularly from Washington, to hand them over for war crimes.

It sounds like you are concerned about 2 things: the daily shots, and perhaps the delaying of puberty.

Our older son started requiring 3+ shots a day when he was 8 and became insulin-dependent diabetic.

At first it was traumatic and heartbreaking.

But if you are matter-of-fact about it, and keep it low-key, it will be a commonplace matter like brushing her teeth.

I know that sounds impossible, & but it's true. (((NY)))

You and your wife will play a big role in how this develops.

Plus, the course of shots will come to an end at some point down the road.

As for the puberty part, girls are starting this earlier and earlier these days, but there are still a few, like our niece whose puberty was delayed for some reason well into her early teens.

All her friends accepted her just as she was....no teasing, just acceptance.
