I don't suppose White's are available with spike heels.....
To: Cuttnhorse
I like that... the horse matters.
My Grandpa would have been mortified to see the great beasts replaced by 4 wheelers. He always made sure he had suitable horses for us grandkids to ride when we visited him. It was an important part of my childhood.

don't suppose White's are available with spike heels.....Funny you ask...actually not spike heels, but spiked soles or "corks" as the loggers call them. Whites got their start building corks for loggers. I find them nice for dances too! (without the spikes)
To: Cuttnhorse
*L* Living for many years in the Pacific Northwest logging country I passed many signs as I walked into stores that told loggers, "NO CORKS IN THE STORE, PLEASE!"

Wish I'd known about White's back in the day - these days the goal is to go nowhere or do anything where NewBalance shoes and OceanPacific nutters will not suffice.
Hoping the beering and the swimming is going well for ya.

Thanks for bringing Baxter's thoughts here. Freeper dutchess works for an agency that sponsors a program in Ohio that takes troubled/screwed-up/abused kids to a ranch where most of them get to ride and care for horses for the first time in their lives.
She reports excellent results with most of the kids after an amazingly short amount of time on the ranch.
Cement and mean streets to little to build character or give an understanding of the beauty that's to be found in the world.

My Grandpa would have been mortified to see the great beasts replaced by 4 wheelers. It really irritates me to see "ranchers" working cattle with four-wheelers. I like them for irrigating, but not for working stock. That's what dogs and horses are for. Besides, it does no good to yell at a four-wheeler, (although, in my experience you get in less trouble then when you yell at your wife).

Cement and mean streets DO little to build character...go do some more chores lodwick.

Interesting about the troubled kids and horses...the wife was a 4H horse leader back home and she always talked about the change in kids when they are around horses...I think it works for big kids too.
In a former life, in central Nevada, we neighbored a rancher in the next valley who used horses for everything...feeding, going for fire wood, just about everything he could do with a horse, that's the way it was done. We used to gather in the Spring and Fall and we'd ride hard for a couple of days together and about 3/4ths of the conversation was about horses. It's funny about horse folks, horses become the center of their lives.

NO CORKS IN THE STORE, PLEASE!"LOL! I had forgotten about your living in the Washington...you would of course know about Corks.
To: lodwick
My Grandpa did that... In the 50s and 60s the sheriff would bring out the "bad boys" to his big dairy farm in N. Calif. and Grandpa would put them to work sun-up to past sundown and talk their ears off all the while. Some would think this was abusive, but when Grandpa died in the mid-70s people were lined up and down the street unable to get into the crowded hall for the funeral service, and many of these people were young men whose lives had been redeemed and straightened out during the time they spent with Grandpa Johnny. I was very proud to be his granddaughter.

Valerie,
You should pick up the Summer issue of RANGE, it has their annual photo contest winners. With your ability and where you live, you should enter next year. That would give you a little exposure...not that I'm saying you should expose yourself.

Popeye's deep fried turkeys are just dandy for our turkey day diningThere is such an animal? This calls for further investigation!

I was very proud to be his granddaughter.Grandpa Johnny would be proud of you.
To: Cuttnhorse

To: Cuttnhorse
Grandpa in Kansas in 1936 before he moved to N. California and went from being a milkman to being a dairy farmer.
To: Cuttnhorse
I haven't heard of Range .. I really like the photo spreads in Cowboys and Indians though.
To: ValerieUSA
Cowboys and Indians is for the would-be types, RANGE is the pure thing with C.J. Hadley publisher/editor. She is a great lady and has made RANGE a top-notch magazine dealing with issues that affect ranchers, loggers and private property owners. Well-written articles and great photography.
CJ is one of my favorite people in the world...she is a Brit and used to write for Car and Driver magazine. She took over the state magazine, Nevada, and made it a first-rate state magazine after loosing money forever. CJ is extremely talented and pasionate about western issues.
Not many places to buy RANGE in Texas...two places in Center, Tx, and one in Alpine, but they have a Web site.
To: ValerieUSA
*LOL* maybe it was OCC, he has a webcam he may have installed by now.Hey! Thats not funny! Besides, my web cam is packed away somewhere.... with other important things I cant seem to find.
