You two are the patron saints of unwanted cats. They were lucky to be in your care for awhile.

Amen brother - perfectly well said, thank you.

We've decided that Honey-Baked Hams and Popeye's deep fried turkeys are just dandy for our turkey day dining, and several days thereafter.

Doesn't translate well?
It's another one of those phrases that if taken literally, doesn't make sense to them. They take, "Big Cheese" literally...which doesn't make sense to them. They consider me to be of the limburger variety.

No Popeyes here- would have to drive to Oakland, an iffy proposition since their murder rate is skyrocketing this year. It's being blamed on lack of jobs, hence, lack of hope. Never mind that nearly all of the murder victims are on probation for various & sundry felonies, as are the majority of suspects, should they happen to catch one. And, nearly all of these murders are drug-related. And the Popeyes happens to be in West Oakland, where most of the murders are taking place. I don't want to get caught in the cross-fire. Think I'll just bake a turkey, stick with my plan to buy a convection oven for the countertop, and stick a ham in it. I can hardly wait to get the kitchen remodeled. :)

I'm sitting here trying to work up the courage to jump in the pool. It's only 70 degrees and overcast with the usual afternoon fog...it's almost 3 pm and no sun yet. Maybe another beer and I'll get the nerve.

Sheesh. I just got a yahoo instant message from someone I have no idea who it is, saying that we're a match in Yahoo Personals (!!!) and invited me to view his (her?) webcam. I hit the ignore button.

It's being blamed on lack of jobs, hence, lack of hope.

That's always the "convenient" cause...What BS, if lack of jobs and poverty caused a high murder rate, why isn't southern Mississippi the murder capital of the US? Why aren't poor areas of Kansas and rural Nevada leading in murder statistics? You're right, it's all about drugs and jerks who should still be in prison.

Lot's of restaurants, including Popeyes, are doing the deepfried turkey thing for the holidays - it's wonderful, but not worth getting shot-up wonderful.

A super Saturday to one and all visiting here.

Gotta love the "lack of jobs" excuse for a high murder rate. Blame corporate America for not providing jobs to the poor people - don't blame criminals for being unemployable thugs. Blame corporate America for the lack of upkeep in rundown neighborhoods - don't blame the criminals that make it unsafe to be outside cleaning the yard and painting the house. Don't ever blame criminals for crime... that's racist or elitist or "judgemental" - blame corporate America.

That happened in Africa...we had just completed building the swimming pool at the mining camp and we were having water supply problems. The camp was at about 600 workers and the water system was only designed for about 400 and one day I happens to walk by the pool, (on the way to the Safari Clup bar) and the pool was full of Auzzie miners all splashing around with bars of soap. I went nuts and drained the pool.

You're much too logical! Also, if these guys wanted jobs, they could drive (or ride a bus or BART) a few miles out of West Oakland to where there ARE jobs.
