Good morning!! Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our Freedom, die in vain!!

Yesterday, a 7.9 magnitude quake struck Alaska, south of Fairbanks. The quake was felt as far away as New Orleans. Only one injury has been reported. The Alaska Pipeline is intact, but shut down this morning. Some support structures are broken about 50 miles south of Delta. Damage exists on the Alaska Highway. There is also some damage to the Parks Highway, as shown in the following photo:

Zogby has Jeb Bush with a 15-point lead going into the last day before the election.

Mondale still leads Coleman, but only by 5 percentage points.

Carnahan and Talent are tied in the Zogby poll, both at 46%.

The New York Times is conceding the Republicans will likely make gains in the House.

And authorities are investigating whether a shooting in Clinton, Maryland, was related to the sniper. While previously not believing that to be the case as it didn't fit the MO - the victim was shot several times at close range, but still managed to survive, authorities are taking another look because a laptop computer owned by the victim was among the items recovered from the sniper's car.

I got to see bits and pieces of the debate today, and Coleman did GREAT!!!! he remained cool, calm and collected while Vice President Bernie looked and acted like an enraged blithering idiot.

recognizing how much the media was involved in keeping up the liberal house of cards. Once that was recognized, the whole illusion disappeared.

What an apt way of putting it....

I was so influenced by my father that, once conservative, and at a young age, I never changed.

But my father did try himself to reexamine his beliefs and assumptions every 10 years or so.....The reexamination continued to yield the same result:-)

I try to do the same, but am lazier about it.

Living abroad, tho, with very little access to any tv and then returning home as Watergate and the Vietnam War were winding down, really brought home how biased the media were.

Non-exposure for a couple of years suddenly made it all clear as could be.

The exact same thing happened to me! I was living in West Berlin in 1968, and the dicotomy between the European and American attitudes, along with the Ameriican media not reporting things as they really were in Europe, just sent me over the edge.

I clung to my father's party for a few more years, but when Jimmy Carter announced how SHOCKED he was at the Soviet Union's invasion of Afghanistan (like everyone on God's green earth didn't know they were sneaky, please!) was the last straw!!

After the misery index, 21% interest rates, giving away the Panama Canal, the Irnian hostage crisis, among other things, I had had it!!

Sniff, I haven't received a phone call from President Bush yet. But I live in a district that is heavily Republican, and Chris Cannon has a 32 point lead over Nancy Jane. Yes, that is right, the dem opponent goes by Nancy Jane. She is sooo unprofessional and scraggly looking.

I was a registered Dem until we moved up here 9 years ago. When we first moved to rural eastern NC there weren't even enough Republicans to have primaries ..... if you wanted to vote in the primaries, you registered as a D. When we moved up here, we officially changed our registration because this area is pretty strongly GOP.

But I have never voted for anyone but a Republican for president .... going all the way back to Nixon. I was always a conservative at heart I guess ..... what they said always just made more sense.

One of the hardest things in life is to lose a parent. My husband and I have both been through this. My dad has been gone 7 years now, and I still choke up thinking about memories. I think I will always miss him...as I am certain he did his father, whom he spoke of often to me.

Just so you understand that I really don't go around laughing at unattractive people....usually.... The reason hubby and I thought it was so funny was that we had been saying that the Rats surely were over reacting. Granted Julia is not a babe, but how bad can the picture be. The Mayor of Indy has been on the news purple-faced, proclaiming the Repubs to be racists of the worst kind, over the line, beyond the pale, etc. So when we saw the photo, it was a shock even to those of us who are used to seeing her mug in the paper. Being that we were in need of a good laugh, it just hit us both terribly funny how bad the photo really was.

There, now I don't feel quite so guilty.
