I know what you mean....I used to live on left coast and had to 'adjust' my thinking on everything because it is usually given as Eastern time. Gee, do you suppose that the powers that be in this country think the world revolves around the East?

Dean Barkley was appointed director of Minnesota Planning by Governor Jesse Ventura in January 1999. A leader and one of the key developers of the Minnesota Reform Party, Barkley ran for the U.S. House in 1992 and the U.S. Senate in 1994 and 1996. An attorney since 1977, he practiced law at Palmer, Hanjani, Barkley and Barley in Loretto before coming to Minnesota Planning. He also is a director of the Minnesota Compact, which advocates clean campaigns, and has been a director of Common Cause.

A couple of weeks ago we went to Memphis for a convention ..... had to change our watches from EDT to CDT. We left to come home on the day that we went back to standard time, crossing the time zone late on Saturday afternoon. Knowing that we were going to have to change our watches back later that night, I just left mine alone. Hubby changed his ..... and wanted the car clock changed. So if someone had swooped down and asked us what time it was, we would have had to ask if they wanted EST or EDT or CDT. Glad we didn't have any critical time constraints that evening.

On our trip across country, I left my watch set to EDT. It keeps extremely good time; the clock in the SUV does not (it slowly gains time). We adjusted the clock in the SUV, and everyone else set their watches, when we crossed time zone boundaries (except for when we went through the Navaho Nation just east of Grand Canyon - seemed kind of silly to set the clocks only to have to do it again 25 miles later). By leaving my watch alone, that made sure we would have reasonably accurate time on all the other clocks and watches.

Minnesota Reform Party,
I feel dumber than a sack of rocks. This never occured to me. Ventura is not interested in helping the Democratic party.. Ventura is not in helping the Republican party.. Ventura and Barkley are interested in helping the REFORM PARTY
That means he can't caucus with the Democrats or he would be a DEMOCRAT... He can't caucus with the Republicans or he would be a REPUBLICAN.
He has to vote that the REFORM party control the Senate. Don't the rules say a tie and the VP decides. Surely the winner only needs a tie and the VP not 51 votes or a 50/50 and VP.
HUMMM If that be the case then the votes are 49 Democrat... 49 Repubican and 1 Reform... HMMMM I guess V.P. Cheney will have to decide who is in control.
Then BARKLEY will attack the Republicans if Coleman wins and the Democrats if Mondale wins... Barkley will be trying to make enough of an impact so he MIGHT BE ABLE TO WIN THE SENATE OR GOVERNORS OFFICE AS A REFORM CANDIDATE.
This is about helping the REFORM PARTY.
Helping Republicans control the Senate is just an unavoidable side effect.
That splashy squishy sound you hear is Daschle beating McAuliffe's head with a Genuine Paul Wellstone Edition of the Minnesota Twins Memorial Baseball Bat.
