LET'S ROLL!!!
Yesterday after work I scouted out 3 different Civil War sites in Franklin, TN. This Friday I'm taking my writing students there for a few hours of fun (and writing). Should be fun and educational.
Good morning!
Report on "Seusical the Musical" starring Kathy Rigby (the Olympic gymnast) which I attended last night:
Kathy Rigby is very talented! She can belt out a Broadway style song fantastically, and she was very good at doing comic accents and improvising with the audience. She played The Cat in the Hat.
This musical is sort of an amalgam of the two Horton books (Horton Hatches the Egg and Horton Hears a Who.) Lines from other books were incorporated throughout the play. The only problem with the play was that for young children it was confusing, because the players weren't costumed identifiably...Horton the elephant was simply a largish young man with a cap with flaps, for example. I had to keep explaining to my granddaughter (who thought they were going to see a giant cartoon) that he was PRETENDING to be an elephant. LOL!
Kathy Rigby had lots of aerial flying as well as several dance numbers as well.
One off-putting thing was a bit of anti-war stuff in the middle of the program, which seemed a bit jarring given the current times, but no one but me seemed to notice it so I didn't comment.
Lots of fun, though!
Oh, and this comment from my sister, the nurse:The UN is just like Jesse Jackson. All they do is talk and go around the world causing trouble.
Here are a couple of links to some Satellite imagery of Iraq and some of their suspected weapons sites. These are all in the public domain and unclassified, which makes me wonder just what the h*ll IML dasshole keeps whining about with his "We still have unaswered questions about the potential threat...":
One of the Sand Flea's Palace Sites
To me, the only real "unanswered" question is - when, if ever, is little tommy gonna pull his head out of his a$$??
Oh? Really????
How does that work?
Good luck with that crash project, Chairman.
Lots of breaking news, this a.m., it sounds like...
Here's one from last night which is interesting:
Just saw a clip of the President...he looked sooo tired, and serious.**Prayers** for him, our Vice-Pres., and all our armed forces....
Mr. M, you are the most excellent teacher....assigning WT articles to your students, and taking them to Civil War sites. Hope you're feeling better today.
Here's an opinion piece which is very hard hitting:
"They Should be Slaughtered" from frontpagemagazine.com.....
Morning, Neets.
Last weekend, we kennelled the pup and drove down to the New York City area. I had a business meeting Monday morning and as it was also Jack's 10th birthday, I wanted to spend time with him. Saturday and Sunday we drove pass Ground Zero. Talk about emotions. Sunday morning we took the ferry out to Ellis Island from Battery Park. Coming back, I was staring at the skyline with the gaping hole and feeling my hackles rise as I heard Arabic chatter and laughter. I looked at another American guy who was staring at the skyline with a grim look and asked him, "I wonder if the Arabs will feel the same way we do right now when they look at Bagdad glowing in the dark?" He just smiled grimly and nodded.
I felt the same way having those Middle Easterners on that ferry, visiting Ellis Island as my late Dad did on the ferry to the Arizona Memorial in Pearl Harbor as he listened to the Japanese Tourists chattering and laughing.
The World will never be the same, and it is a damned good thing!
