Columns are for expression opinions. Much as I'm sure Tim Rollins has some interesting columns, we don't need any more OPINIONS about this case. We need FACTS.
To: Devil_Anse
We need FACTS.Everything posted on this thread is opinion, Devil. For a "devil," you sure do a lot of preaching ;^0

he definitely wouldn't want people to think his daughter ran away from him If people decided they thought Elizabeth had run away, that doesn't mean they'd automatically think it was her father she ran away from. Anyone who has ever had teenagers--or been a teenager--knows that they can be very unreasonable. Sometimes--it's almost a cliche--they think they live under the most horrible conditions imaginable, only to find (when they are out from under mean old Mom and Dad) that they actually had a really good thing. Most people know this about teenagers, and would not automatically blame a parent b/c his/her teenager ran away. Teenagers have a variety of reasons for doing such a thing; being a victim of a father's abuse is only one of many reasons they might do this, and the public knows this, and I believe Ed is smart enough to KNOW that the public knows this.

You are mistaken. The insults started on their side after we had the audacity to ask for a modicum of proof of their outlandish accusations of the Smart family, the Mormon Church, and LE.Wrong again, JG. There is no "proof" in this case from any quarter.
To: Devil_Anse
Wow! That was a lot of words that didn't say anything pertinent.
To: varina davis
Well, you might be surprised if I said I agree with you--almost. Everything we posters express on here is opinion, but technically the news stories people put on here are supposed to be factual. (Within the bounds of reporters' mistakes.)
So yes, we've got lots of opinion. Everyone here thinks and reads about this case and seems to form opinions by the hour; why should Tim Rollins' opinions be given any more weight? I'd bet he's not as up on the reported facts about this case as many of the diehard Smart case followers on this thread are.
As for the preaching, maybe I'll change my handle to Cotton Mather...

You're goading, varina...you're goading....where is Jengaio when I need her??
To: Devil_Anse
You're goading, varina...you're goadingYou know you don't believe a word of what you said in Post 643.

You have very aptly stated one of the reasons that I have never completely discounted the "runaway" theory. My general comments about Salt Lake were not meant to support a "runaway" theory. In this case I've about completely ruled that possibility out. It is possible that Ed and Lois may not have known Elizabeth as well as they thought. But after more than 3 months it seems impossible to me that investigators wouldn't have come across someone who would have had an inkling to her wanting to runaway. LE has interviewed her family, extended family (including cousins in her age range), teachers, schoolmates, church associates, etc... IMO if she were so frustrated with her situation at home that she would runaway then I think somebody in this group would have noticed it. Along with this is Mary Katherines eyewitness account of a man with a gun threatening Elizabeth. IMO the "runaway" angle just doesn't compute.

Bella! Neenah! Cherry! It's just like old home week. I may even come out of retirement.
jengaio, the subtle liguistic agent provacateur, is banned. GRTBR. I have it on good authority that she went totally crackers (not that that is a bad thing).
Maybe we can have a reasonable discuss, if we can just ignore JG.

You know you don't believe a word of what you said in Post 643. I most certainly do.

Iwo Jima and Palladin, happy to see both of you back!

Found this -- 5 pages of kind remarks to Angela about Richard in the Obits pages:Thanks for posting this, Palladin.
To: varina davis
I found it very interesting. Apparently, there are many people out there who believe in the innocence of Richard Ricci with regard to the abduction of Elizabeth Smart.
To: Devil_Anse
I liked your post 643, much truth in it.
To: Palladin
Very nice of you to post the kind remarks to Angela Ricci. I hope they sustain her in her hour of grief. She's had a tough life.
To: varina davis
That's a joke. Right? Varina, that was downright rude and uncalled for. I will stick up for your right to post just as I will for everyone else, but you don't need to make like your opinion of others is the only opinion that matters!!
