We may be a bunch of barbaric neanderthals, but at least we know how to spell "forty-seven".
Maybe, but I'm not as dumb as David Westerfield, who went to a bar one night, got aroused by an adult woman, then proceeded to kidnap, rape, and murder her little daughter. Didn't he know where to find one of the hundreds of prostitutes in San Diego? A guy that dumb doesn'tdeserve to live.
Capital punishment will do 3 things. In addition to the 2 you named, we have a third: He's sure not going to do it again.
The death penalty is really effective against recividism.

The jury in the Westerfield trial has just announced their decision for sentencing.
David Westerfield has received the DEATH PENALTY. He can get the needle or gas in California.

Juror number one has had to leave the court room and get air. They have signed the death warrant.
Sometimes jurors can't cope with the decision and need counselling for years after a death penalty verdict.

If they really execute him I will be surprised. California is just like New York when it comes to the Death penalty. He could be on death row forever (I hope not).

Luckily there were more men than women on the jury. Women tend to be soo forgiving.

Than you should have wanted him in the prison GP. Dahmer would still be alive if he would have got the Death Penalty.

Is it just me, or did this case get prosecuted with (relative) blistering speed? Don't most cases of this visibility take YEARS to even GET to trial? I'm not complaining, mind you -- I'm actually pleased. I think I remember reading why this came to trial so quickly, but I don't remember what the reason was.

"Stephen Wayne Anderson, 48, was executed at San Quentin State Prison on January 29, 2002 at 12:01am for the 1980 murder of Elizabeth Lyman. Anderson was one of 607 people on California's death row. "

It took him 21 years on death row to get executed. He was sentenced in 1981. Lets see - Westerfield should be executed in 2043.

This is serious stuff, I can understand that reaction. I would probably have to throw up just from the stress & strain of the situation, not from guilt or feeling I had done something wrong. I'd be crying & have a headache too, I guess I'm a wuss. ;9[ I wouldn't take being involved in a trial like this lightly.

Oh well I guess we'll be watching 60 minutes do an interview with Westerfield in about 10 years.

Maybe to strangers, but "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned" comes to mind when considering forgiveness factors.

So we can expect the execution of a 70 year old Westerfield in approximately 2022.
Danielle would have been 29 by then.

Fresno DumbAss and Koolaid Drinkers-- don't go out and slash your wrists yet. Your boy Dave needs you to bake cookies and bring them to him for the next 20 years--FOOLS!
I only wish that Brenda could administer the lethal shot, when the time comes.

Some may elect to come back and be interviewed by the media, but the anonymity will be lost. They do not have to use their name, occupation etc., but their image could be made public. They can try to figure out a way to be interviewed without camera.
For those who don't want to talk to anyone about the case, according to state of california, they don't have to.
Judge thinks he knows who was following the jurors around.

Judge says the atty's only have about 45 minutes to talk to jurors.

Even he looks better now...
No, not really. Most of them have been banned already.
Hard to believe anyone could support this guy. The evidence was all there......
Did anyone get a look at the defense attorneys face, I had to leave the room, and missed any images of that idiot.
Don't know for sure....
The judge told the lawyers to conduct the interviews, as apparently he didn't want any involvment.
But I can tell you, they will all be saying the same thing. LOL
Well, that post didn't stay long. Better tone it down a bit..don't want to get the entire thread pulled.
