The Guild 9-15-2002 Saddam Hussein Trained Al Qaeda Fighters - Report
LONDON (Reuters) ^ | September 14, 2002

Posted on 09/15/2002 4:32:29 AM PDT by BigWaveBetty

British Prime Minister Tony Blair's promised dossier on Iraq is to reveal that Saddam Hussein trained some of Osama bin Laden's key lieutenants, The Sunday Telegraph reported.

The dossier is also expected to disclose that the Iraqi leader has reconstructed three plants to manufacture biological and chemical weapons, it said.

Blair, facing opposition from within his own Labour Party over going to war with Iraq without U.N. backing, has recalled parliament to discuss the issue later this month and promised to publish a dossier detailing evidence against Saddam Hussein.

The Sunday Telegraph said a draft version of the dossier contains detailed information on how two alleged leading al Qaeda members, Abu Zubair and Rafid Fatah, underwent training in Iraq and are still linked to the Baghdad government.

It said Abu Zubair was an Iraqi intelligence officer trained in using terror against the Kurds in Northern Iraq. Rafid Fatah also worked with him against the Kurds, the paper added.

They were then said to have joined ranks with Osama bin Laden, accused by Washington of being the mastermind behind last year's September 11 hijack attacks.

On reports that Saddam Hussein has reconstructed three weapons plants, the paper said evidence was based on "worrying activity" captured by American satellite photographs.

One security official, quoted by the Sunday Telegraph, said the photos "clearly show very worrying activity of rebuilding work at these plants which we already knew were being used for developing chemical and biological weapons. That is what Saddam is doing again."

Coming soon to the ad pages of The New York Times:

"A Statement of Conscience"

calling on the "people of the U.S. to resist" American policy, which they claim shows "grave dangers to the people of the world," who want us to join them in resisting "the war and repression that has been loosed on the world by the Bush administration."

The petitioners mock the view that a simple contest exists between "good v. evil," when the real issue is the effort to wage "war abroad and repression at home." Included in their list of such horrible acts of aggression are what they call the "attack" on Afghanistan, the "trail of death and destruction" caused by - Israel - and the blank check the U.S. government wants to kill and bomb whomever it wants.

Their description of America today: a country under the thumb of "repression over society," with free speech "suppressed," groups falsely called "terrorist," a nation they hint sits on the edge of totalitarianism.

Their answer: Refuse orders, resist a draft if instituted and support all "resisters." The "machinery of war" has to be stopped.

excessive bleeding

Is it a "bleeding heart" thing? I know, I know. Shouldn't be a joking matter, but I don't believe this crap for a minute.

Was it a good swipe?

Yes it was. Wish I could remember it word for word. Something like, it makes good foder for late night talk shows, but I'll leave details up to the professionals at the DOD.

I'll get the transcript when they post it on msnbc.

Have seen the Thank you Gov. Jeb commerical, like it very much. I hope the Gov.'s people are busy making new ones with McBride and Reno on tape saying this latest election fiasco it Jeb's fault. He didn't spend any money on improvements and how it's his responsibility to run the election. Both points being flat out lies.

Thank you very much!

Best part was when they said the models were stumbling all over the runway because they could not see...hee hee

I wonder if after the first model stumbled along if the designer maybe got off his duff and thought to escort the rest down the catwalk?

Do you think The Times will run that the same day the evidence on al Qaeda being trained by Saddam is revealed?

Those fools better hope they don't have livelihoods that are supported by New Yorkers.

BWB, arent't you in Florida? I take it you didn't see your Senator, Bob Graham (Dim) on Fox Sunday this morning. I taped it and am now watching the replay. I must say I'm truly disappointed...I thought Graham was one of the good guys.

Tony plays a tape of Clinton in 1998 saying Saddam must be taken out and follows it with like quotes from Tom Daschle. Tony then says "Senator, do you think we're safer today than we were 4 years ago?". Bob Graham says "YES"! Here's why: (paraphrasing) We've had 4 years of "flyovers" controlling what goes on in Iraq and, 2nd, we've now declared a war on terrorism, which should be a priority, not Iraq.

Brit then asks "Do you believe Saddam Hussein is a threat to the United States?". Unbelievable, the answer is "Not one of the primary threats to the U.S.", in other words, "No". He then goes on to criticize that the "war on terror" has "bogged down". (Exactly Tommy Daschle's line.) Well, geez, maybe it would be less bogged if he had a little teeny weeny bit of support FROM THE UNITED STATES SENATE!

My goodness. The only good Dem left is Zell Miller of Georgia. Will he turn next? I think the GOP needs to remind the good people of Florida and Georgia that these turkeys vote for Tom Daschle as Senate leader.

Haven't seen it yet but did hear about his idiot reponses here at FR.

we've now declared a war on terrorism, which should be a priority, not Iraq. Brit then asks "Do you believe Saddam Hussein is a threat to the United States?". Unbelievable, the answer is "Not one of the primary threats to the U.S.", in other words, "No". He then goes on to criticize that the "war on terror" has "bogged down". (Exactly Tommy Daschle's line.)

You know in Cheney's interview on Rush's show when he said we have more sensitive reports to release to congress... I'm thinking they (the admin) waited purposely to bring the info of al Qaeda training by Saddam out today so Daschole and his cronies will look bad on the Sunday shows. It's like they don't read the news before they get their make-up on for these shows.

This has to be it because Graham is a flip-flopper. Whatever is popular is where he's at, so he's been strong on WOT but the dim version on everything else.

How can you say that Iraq is not our biggest threat if you've read a report that tells you al Qaeda is trained by Saddam.

WOMAN'S RANDOM THOUGHTS

If you love something, set it free.
If it comes back, it will always be yours.
If it doesn't come back, it was never yours to begin with. But, if it just sits in your living room, messes up your stuff, eats your food, uses your telephone, takes your money, and doesn't appear to realize that you had set it free.......You either married it or gave birth to it.

That reminded me of:
~~~HOME RULES~~~
If you sleep on it...
make it up
If you wear it...
hang it up
If you drop it...
pick it up
If you eat out of it...
put it in the sink
If you step on it...
wipe it off
If you open it...
close it
If you empty it...
fill it up
If it rings...
answer it
If it howls...
feed it
If it cries...
love it
More thoughts -
Insanity is my only means of relaxation.
Reason to smile: Every 7 minutes of every day, someone in an aerobics class pulls a hamstring.
Women over 50 don't have babies because they would put them down and forget where they left them.
One of life's mysteries is how a 2 pound box of candy can make a woman gain 5 lbs..
My mind not only wanders, it sometime leaves completely.
The best way to forget all your troubles is to wear tight shoes.
The nice part about living in a small town is that when you don't know what you're doing, someone else does.
Hey, I just got an email from ebags and they have my suitcase on sale. Well, it's bigger than mine, but otherwise identical. This one is 24" where mine is 22". I love mine.
EBAGS FALL SALE--Skyway Varsity XS--$59
There's a coupon on ebags...I think it's for 10%. If it doesn't pop up, go to the home page and start there. The coupon should come up.
