The Guild 9-15-2002 Saddam Hussein Trained Al Qaeda Fighters - Report
LONDON (Reuters) ^ | September 14, 2002

Posted on 09/15/2002 4:32:29 AM PDT by BigWaveBetty

British Prime Minister Tony Blair's promised dossier on Iraq is to reveal that Saddam Hussein trained some of Osama bin Laden's key lieutenants, The Sunday Telegraph reported.

The dossier is also expected to disclose that the Iraqi leader has reconstructed three plants to manufacture biological and chemical weapons, it said.

Blair, facing opposition from within his own Labour Party over going to war with Iraq without U.N. backing, has recalled parliament to discuss the issue later this month and promised to publish a dossier detailing evidence against Saddam Hussein.

The Sunday Telegraph said a draft version of the dossier contains detailed information on how two alleged leading al Qaeda members, Abu Zubair and Rafid Fatah, underwent training in Iraq and are still linked to the Baghdad government.

It said Abu Zubair was an Iraqi intelligence officer trained in using terror against the Kurds in Northern Iraq. Rafid Fatah also worked with him against the Kurds, the paper added.

They were then said to have joined ranks with Osama bin Laden, accused by Washington of being the mastermind behind last year's September 11 hijack attacks.

On reports that Saddam Hussein has reconstructed three weapons plants, the paper said evidence was based on "worrying activity" captured by American satellite photographs.

One security official, quoted by the Sunday Telegraph, said the photos "clearly show very worrying activity of rebuilding work at these plants which we already knew were being used for developing chemical and biological weapons. That is what Saddam is doing again."

Very interesting. I've figured for a while there's got to be a link between Saddam and the attack of 9/11, but there have been many people I've talked to who kept using that tired line. Where's the evidence that Saddam is linked to 9/11? I'll do my best to be gracious as I direct them to this information. ;-)

Look at this!

MADRID, Spain -- Models sporting nooses, execution-style hoods and body-covering bandages brought howls of protest and walkouts at Madrid's most prestigious fashion show.

Carrying rosaries or crucifixes, the models paraded -- and stumbled -- to the sounds of a man's voice saying the "Our Father," followed by a woman panting erotically and iron bars screeching as they opened and closed.

Spectators at the finale of the Pasarela Cibeles fashion show on Friday night booed, whistled and called out to the hooded models to guide them after some tripped.

[snip]

The outfits were the work of new designer David Delfin, 31, who went out on stage afterward and put his hands together as if to ask forgiveness.

Speaking later to reporters, a visibly upset Delfin insisted he had not meant to trivialise repression against women.

He said he had got the idea from a painting by Rene Magritte in which two hooded lovers kiss. "My mistake is that this was a theatrical concept and here in the Cibeles show there is no way to do a dress rehearsal," he said.

Nevertheless Delfin defended the third fashion collection of his career as "the most feminine one I have ever designed."

Wow, some people just can't buy a clue. What a maroon.

It's still Bill & interns
Monica memories don't slow down hiring

Even now, the man who made the word intern synonymous with Monica Lewinsky is scouting New York's top colleges for young talent to help out in his Harlem office.

According to Internet and E-mail ads by Barnard and New York University, the former President is seeking undergrad or graduate students with an interest in public service.

They've got to be bright, dependable, professional, able to follow policies and procedures with good judgment and have a certain enthusiasm and adaptability. No gender was specified.

Don't get the wrong idea. It's strictly business, said Clinton spokesman Jim Kennedy.

"We've had an internship program for more than a year. Each semester interns are brought on board. Most offices have internships," he said. "So what?" [snip] More.

You know, I don't think anything would suprize me anymore.

Although the young people are expected to work 20 to 40 hours a week for no pay, the jobs have already been snapped up.

Can't you just imagine this little girl going home for the weekend and saying "Hey, Daddy, I found a job!"?

We won't see it, but wouldn't it be interesting to know how many never show up because they're locked in their rooms. LOL!

Gore Says Bush Economic Policies Should Be Dumped

That's right Alyboy, keep talking about how bad the economy is while Alan Greenspan tells us how it looks pretty good, considering. He did smack congress and tell them to watch the spending. Then he explained to your stoopid dem buddies that the tax cut was a very good thing and don't mess with it. And while the rest of us thinking people are concerned about keeping our country safe, you idiots blather on about the economy.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Former Vice President Al Gore on Saturday criticized President Bush's economic policies, saying they have squandered trillions of dollars of projected U.S. budget surpluses and ought to be "scrapped."

Speaking to a group of black members of the U.S. Congress, the remarks by Gore, who lost the 2000 presidential election to Bush, were part pep rally for Democratic candidates in the Nov. 5 congressional elections.

But his dual themes of Republican economic recklessness and disregard for the ailing Social Security ( news - web sites) retirement fund also may have been a preview of campaign stump speeches to come, if Gore decides to seek a rematch with Bush in 2004. [snip] Link, if you can stomach the rest of this thripe. (oh, pardon the pun.)

Lots of funny picture to go with this story!!

Former Vice President Al Gore, speaks away from the podium, and at times seemed almost like a stand-up comedian as he poked fun at himself, but later spoke of serious issues, during the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation dinner, Saturday, Sept. 14, 2002, in Washington, D.C.. Rest assured there will be no kissing of the women of the Black Caucus. Albert doesn't like to kiss black women as evidenced during the 2000 election with both Oprah and Queen Latifa.

Oh this is just too much fun!

LOL!! and Amen!

Saw a "man on the street" interview of NY students being asked about clinton soliciting interns. It was FNC so half were, "Eeewwwwwwwwwww!" and half were, "Well, like I think like that's like a good thing he's like involving like young people in like government."

First, I just noticed this is from Reuters...they put quotation marks around the words "terrorist" and "freedom". Freeepin' postmodernists.

As to Al Gore, the story says one of his themes is going to be Republican "disregard for the ailing Social Security retirement fund". Would someone please tell me what the Dims have done, proposed, thought about or said to help the SS fund? Better yet, someone please tell me which Dem has ever ADMITTED that the Social Security fund is "ailing".

Looks like it might be finally clearing up.

Hoping your Fighting Illini's kicked butt!

Here's some of what President Bush said yesterday that made me all giddy.

President Bush challenged the United Nations to "show some backbone" yesterday and again warned that if it doesn't, the United States may take on Saddam Hussein alone.

"Make no mistake about it," he added, "if we have to deal with the problem, we'll deal with it."

"This is the chance for the United Nations to show some backbone and resolve as we confront the true challenges of the 21st century," he said.

Colin Powell just said on MTP that we will wait only weeks for Saddam to comply.

Oh I hope you're watching Meet the Press. I can't believe that Timmy just played two clips of clinton on Letterman and asked Secty. Powell to comment. (one, where 'toon is astonished if it takes more than a week. two, how saddam will pass out his chemical brew to others if attacked)

Powell made a lovely slam at the X41. :-)

Shoot, I missed it. Was it a good swipe?

I did come in just in time to see the tail end of a Jeb commercial (Pensacola station is only an hour from here). It's adorable! A lady has evidently called the gov's office and expressed her concern about a particular traffic intersection with children crossing ont their way to school. She and Jeb are standing looking at the heavy traffic and Jeb says he knew what needed to happen. In the next scene there's a bank of new traffic lights at that intersection and a little band of children who yell into the camera: "Thank you Governor Jeb!". Precious.

The Julia Report for today:

Guess Julia saw the report on Liz's skin cancer and decided that she would release her medical trauma report...

Pregnancy 'deadly for Julia'

Julia Roberts fears she is suffering from a rare condition which could kill her if she falls pregnant.

The Erin Brokovich star, who married cameraman Danny Moder in July, is waiting to find out if she has immune thrombocytopenic purpura, which affects the body's ability to stop bleeding.

Experts warn sufferers not to have children because any excessive bleeding during pregnancy could kill them.
