We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail!![President Bush]
Good morning!! Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!
The military deployed anti-aircraft missile batteries around the National capital yesterday for a four-day defensive exercise. The exercise is designed to test the integration of F-16 combat air patrol and ground level portable missile defense.
President Bush has stated it is not the job of the United States to determine who rules in a post-Saddam Iraq.
Lawmakers will hold a news conference today to state what they have found in their probe of Martha Stewart.
In a piece posted on The Boston Channel, Helen Thomas writes that September 11, 2001, changed America, but not for the better. She also said the phrase "homeland security" was an "alien term."
For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.

"Good on ya" for starting that Michael Ledeen ping list, Dog.
I'm beat today and have more work to get done this evening. I DIDN'T need that flat tire, delay or bill (ran our checking account down to $2 in the process).
See you tomorrow. If there's any breaking news of any kind just call me.

it's very comforting to know that you guys don't mind me venting here.I keep saying that FR is a whole lot cheaper than therapy and medications ...... it's a good place to vent about all kinds of things ..... personal as well as political. I know this place has helped me keep my sanity over the last few years ......

Hi Kay and everyone...well, we found out that the catheterization went well, but they found something...and now she needs a triple bypass, which they will do Thursday...the good news is that they got it in time (the cardiologist told her that she was a 'walking time bomb')...
She had 3 blockages: 90% on the right side (which they could correct by angioplasty), but 2 on the left side (80 and 95%, which they can't correct with an angioplasty). So there ya have it....
Dear old Ma is ready to rip all of the tubes and monitors off of her and just walk outta there...she felt GREAT during her stress test, after all...
So, to all of you out there STILL SMOKING, let this be a warning...you KNOW who you are....this is what you have to look forward to...(BTW, Mom quit last week when she found out that she needed a catheterization)...

We have become a nation of mourners and memorializers (how's that for coining a word?!) ...... and I think it weakens us considerably. Hey. You read my September 20th (2001) post.

I'm sorry that I can't remember Sarah's age. Would you mind telling me? I've been wondering for awhile now. C'mon. You're not THAT old. :)

Well, the news could be a whole lot worse ..... by-pass surgery is becoming commonplace but is still serious stuff. Almost everyone I know who has had it, though, has been so thankful ...... and found renewed energy ..... as they say, has gotten a new lease on life. May God be with your Mom and her doctors! And may He give you peace!
Does she live near you? Will you be close by during the surgery?

I'll take your word for it. Glad to know I'm not the only
nut one to come up with such a term.
And it's good to see you here ...... we've missed you! Some of us have tried to assume your duties but no one does it quite like you.

In case anyone is interested ......
Early election results (only 4%) have Elizabeth Dole receiving about 79% of the Republican votes for Senate.
In the 'Rat primary, Erskine Bowles has only 51% of the vote.

I'm back and rested after reading another half-chapter of Ann Coulter and then sleeping peacefully.
In today's mail I received two more additions to my modest Wodehouse collection. One was a 1939 printing of Thank You, Jeeves and the other one was Iain Sproat's Wodehouse at War which includes the complete transcripts of Wodehouse's five radio broadcasts from Berlin. Both of these books were given and mailed to me by a fellow member of our Wodehouse newsgroup. Dashed generous of him, I say.

I will ask my sister on how to deal with 'toxic' people. She took this class on how to deal with people (she doesn't do so well.) One suggestion was that she get a piece of paper and a pencil out when someone started in on her, and start writing down what they were saying. When they ask why you are writing, you just tell them that what they are saying is important and you don't want to forget it. Another instance was a man who married a woman, and his parents really really didn't approve. And they never accepted the wife NOR their children when they came along. They would criticize the kids to death. So finally the father decided that confrontation hadn't worked, a lot of stuff hadn't worked, so he told the kids to remember all the insults, and the kid who received the most insults from his grandparents got a two scoop ice cream cone on the way home (everyone else got one scoop.) He said that the kids learned to not take the criticism personally, and the kids loved getting ice creams cones afterwards. I have some more suggestions, but I can't remember them all now. Good luck (I think the writing down is the best one...)

We received this e-mail from a Singaporean friend today (September 11 on her side of the world). Note: "yarping" is missionary lingo for "praying" used in places where governments do word searches on suspect e-mails (unnecessary in this case). I will pass this on as a greeting to all here.
Today (9/11) many of us are yarping specifically for you. May GOD Himself, the GOD of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our LORD JC. The one who calls you is faithful and he will do it . His grace be always with you."
Remembering you today as we recall 9/11. GOD bless you and America.
To: Utah Girl
Do you mind if I write that down, UG?
jk
To: Utah Girl
Oh, I like that writing down sugggestion.
When I was selling furniture, I noticed that customers with complaints (and there were always a lot due to shipping delays and damages) were always calmer if I wrote down what they were saying. It makes it OFFICIAL, you know.
And in personal relationships, someone might be defused by thinking that their griping and criticism is being transcribed for posterity. HA!
