Mom.. terrible about your toes.. That hurts so much.. I have broken so many in my life.. but mostly from dancing.. You know.. the country hops and the boogie woogies?..

Hope you heal real fast.. I know how they hurt and there is nothing much to be done for them.. The pain pills help... I never had any of those beauties tho..just remember going without shoes for a long time..

Thanks all for the good wishes...first the nasty summer cold, and now the broken toes...things always travel in threes, so it seems, sure hope nothing else is going to happen...I hate being sick or injured...it interferes with so much of life...

Gran...how funny, breaking your toes while doing too much dancing...thats our Gran....

That pizza maker looks like a little item, I should look into...thats the secret to good pizza crust...really high temps, and a stone to put the pizza on...am going to have to look into getting one of those for us here...

We sure are lucky to be living when we are, when there is just about an appliance or gadget for anything and everything...technology, sure does make our lives richer...

Yes.. Mom.. and the crust is just as nice and brown all the way across the bottom.. Very even, and crispy.. I just have to learn to manhandle the crust..and not let it get the best of me.. lol

I just have to learn to manhandle the crust..

A cookbook I have describes this procedure as follows: with your fingertips, firmly press the dough to make dimples at 1-inch intervals all over the surface.

Your pizzas looked just fine to me. ;-)

Oh yeah? Jeeze.. I'll try that.. I tried rolling.. pressing.. and twirling it around on my fist. That would have made a hell-of-a-pic..let me tell you..lol

I will win.. I refuse to give up. It's me or the pizza dough.. Grrrrrrr....

I can't twirl pizza dough to save my life. Every time I've tried, I end up making holes or end up with thin spots in the dough.

As with almost everything else, practice makes perfect. lol

Grannie is manhandling the crusts...shes a master manhandler...LOL....

I am going to have to go out this weekend or next weekend, and visit a few stores, and start scouting out pizza makers...sounds like something really nice to have around the house....specially because you can make crust the way you want...we like our crust nice and thin and a little crispy, and sometimes pizzerias just dont have the thin crust...so making ones own thin crust sounds ideal..

Yes.. I love thin crispy crust.. Now I don't know what is my fav pizza.. the one in my old home town, which I've been eating since a teenager...or this one I made today.. I'll tell you.. they are a tossup..

I am not a pizza lover.. I hate thick crust, and most pizza turns me off. It's the only thing I could never eat when I was preggy..and I was always really fussy since then...

Just had another roofer here...being the replacing a roof is such a big expense, and one that hopefully we will never have to do again, BigDom is insisting on having lots and lots of bids, comparing the prices, and what you get for the price...this was the 4th contractor we have had, and I think two more are still to come...

Hate having to fork out all that money, but we want to make sure that what we have put on will be worth the money...

Its just a pain in the arse, having to make all these comparisons, and trying to figure out just what we are getting for the price...the only consolation, is that once they start, in two days it will be done..

BigDom is watching the govt. very carefully right now....you know when a military member retires, if they are also receiving a military disability payment, once their retirement money kicks in, they either have to wind up giving up their disability or part of their retirement...you cannot collect both...which to me is unfair....

All military members received a military retirement pay, if they put in the time....but those who got disabled to some extent while on the job, should also deserve to have their disability in addition to their retirement...but it does not work that way currently...

BigDom has been receiving a military disability payment for damage done to bones in his neck, on an Airborne jump...its the minimum disbility, 10per cent, so its not a lot of money...but its the point of the whole thing... hes been receiving this disability payment for about 12 yrs now...

Like I said, its not a lot of money, but its the point....he was disabled 10 percent on the job, and put in the requisite time, to also qualify for a military retirement....which he will begin collecting next April...but under current law, his retirement check will be reduced by the amt of his disabiltiy check...

Many retired servicemen, have much larger disability awards, and are having a hard time of it financially because their disability payments are deducted from the retirement checks...

Sure do hope that for once, the govt will stand up for the Veterans, and give them their just due...I guess this is just a touchy area for me...we spent only 9yrs or so, in the full time active army, and there were many, many sacrifices that our family had to make so that Dom could serve in the manner he wished...hes not complaining, mind you, but he does feel that men who have devoted their lives to the military and retired from the military, should also be allowed to collect their full disability awards without penalty...

I guess I just had to rant, so did it here, among friends...

You are absolutely correct about thick crust...me and Bigdom do not care for thick crust at all...sometimes its soggy, and heck, if there is too much crust, you get filled up on the crust, rather than the tasty toppings....

Having grown up in Chicago, I loved pizza...every neighborhood had its own local pizzeria...the last place where BigDom and I lived, prior to his military service, our local pizzeria was just 1 block from the house...we never had to have it delivered, we just called in our order, BigDom waiting 10 minutes, and then he headed out and walked up to the pizzeria, and our pizza was just coming out of the oven...

Besides Pizza, all the little neighborhood pizzerias, had a wonderful menu, of basically the same things...pizza of course, but they all also had spaghetti or ravioli, just with sauce, or with meatball and sausage and sauce...and they all carried ribs, and broasted chicken...and beef sandwiches and italian sausage sandwiches with gravy and peppers, or the famous sausage- beef- peppers-gravy combo sandwiches...

Good eats...YUM-YUM

Mom.. we just had our roof done this spring. Al says they all suck.. lol We had a quote from Home Depot for $18,000 without removing the shingles.. We ended up with a local company that stripped the roof and did the job for $10,500. We are satisfied, but roofers are a devil to deal with..

Deal with them with care.. As far as the years go.. anything over thirty is loopy.. The lowest is 25.. Thirty is fine..

Glad to have your advice...I am also so glad to see that you agree with having a roof for anything over 30yrs is loopy...that one company said they only did 50yr roofs...did not even tell us that when we called for an estimate, and told them over the phone we wanted a 30yr roof...they could have said over the phone, that they dont do 30yr roofs...they came out anyway, and it was not until they handed me the written estimate, ,that they mentioned it was for a 50yr roof, because thats all they do...ticked me off, wasting my time...

Yes, we are going to have to deal with them with care...we will be sticking with just local companies, ones that have been in business in the area for more than 20yrs...many have been around much longer, so as least they are not fly by nighters...and then a call to the Better Business Bureau, before finalizing our decision, is a must...

I have just been dreading this whole roof replacement thingey, but it does have to get done...
