Good job with Ricky - the tent pitching rhino.
Interesting about the cheap bread eating buffalo - that's what my father's jennies get as their treat. And they do come running whenever he calls...I like bread allright, but I've never run across the yard to get a slice or two.
Good news on the healing front - lotsa vitamin C can't hurt anything. It finally killed Linus Pauling in his mid-90's, and he was taking 10,000 units a day.

I have often thought about the strategy of the owners of the game farm....they always have tons of bread out, where you buy the tickets to get into the game farm.....most people, who dont know enough to bring their own stuff, wind up buying bread from the owners...I suspect, on a good day, what with old bread, and other treats that people might bring, many of those animals get their nutritional fill from the visitors, thus cutting down on the owners food expense, and putting more money into his pocket...
All the bears at this farm, are not caged, they each have their own individual plot of land, which is surrounded by fences, which are low enough to allow people to throw bread into the bears compound...I think the bears are behind an electrified fence, and they seem to know it, as I have never seen one get too near to the fence...but when the bears see cars coming, they sit up and beg, wanting that bread....
Gosh, I have not been up to that game farm for many years now....actually have not been up to the Peninsula in a few years....another place for BigDom and I go return to....and then we might as well go up to Olympic Natl Park, and roam among the Olympic mountains....
There is so much to see here, so little time...
BigDom reminded me today, that in 2yrs, he is going off the ODL(overtime desired list) at work, and will work his last 6months at the post office, by working just 8hrs a day, instead of his current routine now, of 10 and 11 hours a day...he wants to ease into his retirement...

I would think that in two years, with all his accumulated sick time, he wouldn't even have to show up for the last six months or so.
Continuing good thoughts for y'alls return to chair-breaking good health. ;-)

He wishes that he could take off those last six months, with all his accumulated sick time...however, the post office, makes you get a docs note if you are sick for more than three days....so they let you take a few days off sick here and there, without too much questioning...but should you try to take more than three days off sick in a row, you had better really be sick and must be able to prove it, via your doctor....
It hardly seems fair....he wishes they would just give him the cash for his unused sick days, but no such luck...you just lose them...he always wants to keep some sick time available, in case he really does get seriously ill, or needs surgery(the only times he ever used a few weeks sick time were when he had his sinus surgery, and his prostate surgery)....
And if you take too much sick time, even just a few days here and there, then they grumble at you, and may give you a written warnng...so you are damned if you use them, and damned if you dont....

All I can then say is start using them now...take those long weekends that you so enjoy - don't lose all that money for no good reason. Most of us are aware of our own mortality and we should do today what we dreamed of doing yesterday.
Do you still wish to have any roofing thoughts? I've plenty.

Well, thats why we do take those long weekends....BigDom does enjoy calling in sick on Fridays...then we hop into the car, and off we go, not having to return until Monday afternoon...we do intend to have no regrets....we like to do as much as we can...and besides, its fun...
Roofing thoughts....I sure do want them....we have gotten written estimates, and those written estimates are good for 10days...so please, roofing comments are very welcomed...

Here's a link to the GAF websiteHere's a good crash course in roofing and what part the shingles play in the grand scheme of things - they are just protecting the underlying felt which is what keeps the water out of our homes.
I have seen in my utility bills the difference that having the soffit and ridge vents have made. A very quick payback investment if your home does not have them already.
I love big metal drip edging to take the water away from the eave trim of the house.
This would also be a great time to lose the gutters where they are not serving a purpose - splashing onto the siding, or drainage, or any other purpose other than "that's the way we do things here." Some traditions have no real reason for their continued existence. Stop this one if it makes sense to you.
A three tab 20, 25, or 30 year shingle is fine. The Dimensional or Architectural shingle may be more appealing to the eye, but if most of the neighbors have three-tab, go with this one - the material and the protection of your home is the same.
Go with a contractor that does not want any money down, until the job is completed and you and the BigGuy are happy with the job.
Be sure the contractor is liscensed and bonded and is able to give you copies of same.
Your insurance agent should be happy to provide you with the names of several reputable companies that are known to him and who have done good work in your area over a period of time - no fly by nights.
Do not worry about the "this bid is good for ten days" clause - sales gimmick.
Companies with names and numbers of local satisfied customers, with whom you verify same, are a good thing.
I hope some of this helps you guys. ;-)

"I purchased one of your Original Camo Kilts and a Russian Army belt to go along with it at this year's Festival International in Lafayette Louisiana. As a registered Republican I have to admit this was a bit of a stretch for me, but it was great. This year's hot louisiana summer will be a lot more tolerable thanks to you and your product."
~Charles W. Huebner, Lafayette, Louisiana

Is that tolerable or lovable, habs?

Dramatic pic - notice how the few trees hang on to life in what appears to be the toughest of conditions. Thanks for this one.

I would like to nominate myself as the UnderTheLadderKiltInspector. I have such extensive experience as a ceiling inspector, I am sure my qualifications can be extended to justify employment in this area.
