Trussell, I for one don't believe poor old Ricci ever became a changed man, even after knowing or marrying Angela. Once a person is caught in something like heroin addiction, in my opinion, their prospects of changing are bleak indeed.

"We have a lot of sex offenders running around free"
That's for sure, it's depressing. But at least having registries of them is a step in the right direction.
My zip code could not compare with the Smarts' for pricey homes, but we only have one sex offender listed on the registry for it. (Of course, the registry could be off.) That is enough to make me shudder. If I'd had as many listed as the Smarts had listed, I'd have been pretty worried.

Did they rob the actual bank, or rob a Wells Fargo truck? Just curious.
Ill let you know Im watching another news station now.
Nope, not Ricci's friends Remington and Young, I guess. They're in jail.

ROFL!!
Thank you for the Al Gore reference, trussell...I think!
To: Devil_Anse
Not al gore; Tony the tiger. LOL :-D
To: sandude
Very unlikely on both accounts. From what we know there is very little time when Elizabeth would have been unsupervised. The Smarts have stated that she did not use the internet for communication purposes.Oh, come on..... sandude.
To: varina davis
That's what the Smarts said. I have nieces that age (14 and 15), and they have absolutely no interest in the Internet. They use their brothers to get information for them for school reports, etc. And the SLPD said there was no sign that Elizabeth was talking in chatrooms, etc. They do have tools nowadays that will find that information really fast. They've had to have the tools developed because girls were meeting up with perverts and getting taken advantage of.

Here I was, visualizing you living in a ghetto walk-up with the unwashed masses, all tuckered out from a hard day's work in a SA soup kitchen, feeding the poor.

"Polygamist leader Rulon T. Jeffs dies"
He was 92 or 93, rumored to have from 19 to 75 wives and dozens of children.

Interesting on Jeffs. I missed the local news this evening, I was watching Laura Bush's interview on Brit Hume's show on Fox News.

They use their brothers to get information for them for school reports, etc. And the SLPD said there was no sign that Elizabeth was talking in chatrooms, etc. Please, Utah Girl, DON'T BE SOOO DEFENSIVE! I wasn't accusing Liz of dawdling in chat rooms or being promiscuous. Exchanging an e-mail or two is not being obsessed with the Internet. As far as being "supervised" 24/7, that simply strains credulity. She's a bright, normal 14-year-old.
To: varina davis
She's a bright, normal 14-year-old.No past tense. I want to think she's still OK.
To: varina davis
Geesh, I wasn't defensive, I was simply pointing out some facts. And I agree that parents often times do not know what their children are doing. But even Elizabeth's brother said she wasn't interested in the Internet.
To: Utah Girl
I wasn't defensive, I was simply pointing out some facts.I understand. But someone saying something doesn't make it a "fact."
And as far as Liz not being "interested in the Internet" -- well, I'm not interested in golf, but I will watch a bit of it now and then.
There are no absolutes.
To: Utah Girl
Yes, it's like I-205 goes through there! I get off at 39th South to get to my BIL parents place.
To: landerwy
Well, it kind of does, you can get off the exit there are go to Foothill Blvd or Parley's Way. And boom, you are in SLC.
To: Utah Girl
It's been a couple of years and I forget which exit to take until I see it. Anyway I'm talking about the other area coming out of Parleys when you get on I205 and head south instead of north to foothills. I thought they were still trying to draw a distinction between the Francoms place and Dixons ward not the Smarts and Dixon. My mistake!
To: varina davis
"Please, Utah Girl, DON'T BE SOOOO DEFENSIVE!"
That's odd, you seem to be the only one who sees defensiveness in what she is saying. All she's doing is trying to give you and the Palladin poster some useful information which anyone interested in this case should be happy to have.
But you people don't seem just interested in Elizabeth's case. You--and Palladin, more than you--definitely seem to have an agenda of trying to establish what you think is your moral superiority, or the moral superiority of your own regions and perhaps of your own lifestyles (non-affiliated with any religion? that's my guess.)
You seem to think, or at least Palladin does, that sniping at Salt Lake City will establish some sort of superiority, but it doesn't. Quite the opposite.

"Here I was, visualizing you living in a ghetto walk-up with the unwashed masses"
Thanks for posting this; without it, I'd never have been able to make sense of your post 913, in which I had no idea what you were saying.
No, you're confusing me with Palladin. Palladin is the one who sets the standards around here for whether people are kind enough to their less-fortunate fellow humans, and whether we are all living in neighborhoods that are arranged with the proper number of people of all incomes. See Palladin's comment: "You [SLC people] seem so hellbent on keeping the neighborhoods separate (but equal, of course.)"
I doubt if very many of us, including you, could live up to Palladin's high standards. It must be great to be perfect.
