WHERE IS THE BEST PLACE TO BUY PRINTER CARTRIDGES?
SEPTEMBER 02, 2002 | ME

Posted on 09/02/2002 11:46:10 AM PDT by RIGHT IN SEATTLE

I'm sick and tired of buying cartridges for a HP printer that almost exceed the cost of the printer!

Anyone have a reasonable source on the net, or in the Las Vegas area?

Always buy a printer like the one they have where you work. ;-)

Isn't that the truth!!

We use a very good HP that my husband has outfitted his entire workplace with. It never breaks down, is very durable and even computer illiterates can't get a paper jam on it. We also got the same printer for his Dad. His father passed away a few years ago and we gave that printer to his neice. She called me up in horror when she went to go buy a cartridge.

My husband is permitted to take what he needs but I dont advise employees to steal company supplies.

I have always used Canon printers. The ink is about $12 per cartridge.

I'd mail you a scathing reply to that remark, but my printer is out of ink. :)

I don't buy the cartidges at all any more. I buy the ink and refill them at a cost of about $3-$4 per refill. The last time out, I bought a 16 oz bottle (I have the refilling syringe etc already.)

Do a search on ebay..there are many merchants selling this stuff. It may take a couple trys to find out which ink you like best and get the knack of it but it sure is a moneysaver!!

Once you find a vendor you like, a simple phone call to them should suffice.

Use originals. The cheaper ones tend to dry up ver quick.

Get an Okidata LED printer.

They have fewer moving parts than a laser print, relatively cheap to feed toner, and Oki has LIVE, HUMAN help available 24/7 on an 800 number. HP charges with set up problems!

"Cheap" jet printers are anything but.

I have an HP laserjet 6p and it has never been a problem. Although I must admit an expert lives in the house...my hubby..so I dont have to worry about maintance as he does all that.

When it's Sunday morning, and you MUST print, and help is just a phone call away, that 24/7 support is invaluable. Not everyone has live-in help.

I've dealt with a LOT of HP laser printers and jet printers and they are overpriced and overrated for what you get.

Sams works best for me and they (Sams) have a refill program if you send your old one to them. I tryed the refill kit and it didn't work for me. I returned it Sams for a refund.

Call LASERPHIL FOR INFO

214-265-9747 is the info on Sams package.

The OfficeMax near me carries generic HP cartridges. About half the cost of the HP-branded cartridges. They've got a web site.

I've tried the refill kits in the past but only succeeded in making the biggest mess you've ever seen. Others have had good luck with them, but my advice is to stay away from them.
