I don't buy the cartidges at all any more. I buy the ink and refill them at a cost of about $3-$4 per refill. The last time out, I bought a 16 oz bottle (I have the refilling syringe etc already.)

Do a search on ebay..there are many merchants selling this stuff. It may take a couple trys to find out which ink you like best and get the knack of it but it sure is a moneysaver!!

Once you find a vendor you like, a simple phone call to them should suffice.

One caveat. I have a Lexmark inkjet, among others. The jets do wear out and leak all over the place.

I don't have very good things to say about lifespan of Brother Laser drums (or the USB interface).
