Giving priority to what is most important, I have decided to swallow my pride. I had a dustup with a moderator. I lost. Though I think the moderators need a tuneup they ain't so bad really. I depend on them to keep this site from becomming a free for all whacko hate site. I used to push the abuse button quite frequently on my fave undesirables ... anti-semite, haters. I notice they're a bit thin around here lately.
It is most important that Free Republic live and thrive. It is less important that I get things my way around here. Though I do not agree completely with the proposition that it is Jim's site and he can do with it what he damn will pleases ... It's as much our site, collectively, as it is his now. Perhaps Jim does ride herd a bit too hard on this creation he gave birth to. Fact is I don't know. I simply don't have enough information.
But it is a given that FR is the best there is at what it does. If it's only my morning paper and a place to exercise my verbal skills ... it's worth supporting. Now is the time for all level headed thinking FReepers to come to the aid of our wounded friend ... Free Republic.
That's a salient point, CJ.
I feel much the same way, if a bit from the opposite direction. How can we work together to stop the socialists when at the same time an equally vocal group is calling me a "cop-hater" which I am certianly not, or a proponent of "anarchism" which I am equally not. What are we to do?
Let us remove the beam for our eyes before considering the splinter in theirs, shall we? If we can work together at all, let us do so in the spirit of good will.
Then I guess that makes me against you, doesn't it? The tactics in use here are beyond reprehensible, and I will not subscribe to them.
If you really think that it's as simple as "with us or against us" Frank, then you really are part of the problem.
I don't think there's anything left for us to discuss. Have a nice day.
Precisely why I haven't called myself a "Republican" in more than 5 years now. I am a Conservative first, last and always.
Well said, B.A.
I don't think I can disagree with your comments. My specific protestations are about the BEHAVIOR demonstrated by the neocons. And yes, I'm sure that behavior has been demonstrated on the other side of the aisle too. The civility here is gone. Has been for quite some time. I'm all for a reasoned, passionate debate on issues and ideology. What I am not for, are the insults, name-calling, harassment and haranguing that occurs here on a daily basis. There's a certain "thug" mentality here in that some people (and I speak in broad terms) think they can berate and bully others into their point of view, or shutting up altogether. There's that "you're either with us, or you're against us" mentality that I so dislike.
I'm sick of that behavior. As far as the neocon ideology, they're as welcome to their POV and ideology as I am to mine. What they are not welcome to, is displaying their rude, obnoxious behavior towards me or others here, simply because they disagree with our POV.
Is my position clear to you know?
Somewhere upthread Jim requested I give it a rest with regard to moderators. I have. I suspect he would also ask that this dispute be put to rest.
Point is, we both are a bit concerned with actions of late. But I've put mine to rest in the interest of the site as a whole. Perhaps you will join me and decide that the rest is water under the bridge? A new start would be a good thing for all of us.
Would the RNC continue down the path they are on, or would they try to figure out what went wrong and make changes?
I think they'd misinterpret a "stay at home campaign" and go further left as the lefties are getting votes.
Now if Conservatives voted enmass for a third party candidate, maybe the RNC would get the hint.
Conservatives can keep the GOP from winning elections, but it takes more than just Conservatives to keep the GOP from losing elections.
Now if Conservatives voted enmass for a third party candidate, maybe the RNC would get the hint.
If Conservatives did that, they woul no longer be part of a major party or in the political mainstream.

I should have been more clear. I was thinking less about a mass-exodus, more like a targeted strike say (one race of little importance per state or just some states) that would be used to get attention. Heck the GOP wins when it runs right ('80,'94)
The fact that the Senate is getting more RINO disturbs me. We've got to get better in the primaries.
I live in Mass and and have to play the game by the rules delt me, so I work with the Libertarians, for which I have been flaimed, Independants and any other group that will present the Conservitive cause on issues that concern me.
The 1996 election was the last gasp of the Rinos and is history, what counts is the Now. We can either destroy ourselves by arguement over minor issues or agree on issues that are common to all of us and work for them.
FR gives us a forum that allows a nation discussion of the issues, how we in each of the states that we live in handle them is is our proplem, JimRob may have an opinion and a strong one, but he lives in Kali and I live in Mass, what may work there may not work here.
Remember on the Libs agree on every thing.
