Giving priority to what is most important, I have decided to swallow my pride. I had a dustup with a moderator. I lost. Though I think the moderators need a tuneup they ain't so bad really. I depend on them to keep this site from becomming a free for all whacko hate site. I used to push the abuse button quite frequently on my fave undesirables ... anti-semite, haters. I notice they're a bit thin around here lately.
It is most important that Free Republic live and thrive. It is less important that I get things my way around here. Though I do not agree completely with the proposition that it is Jim's site and he can do with it what he damn will pleases ... It's as much our site, collectively, as it is his now. Perhaps Jim does ride herd a bit too hard on this creation he gave birth to. Fact is I don't know. I simply don't have enough information.
But it is a given that FR is the best there is at what it does. If it's only my morning paper and a place to exercise my verbal skills ... it's worth supporting. Now is the time for all level headed thinking FReepers to come to the aid of our wounded friend ... Free Republic.

Hey, how about if each of us does a big ping to Registered? Wouldn't that be a novel way to do things???? ;-)
It isn't a matter of alerting Registered; we really want him to come back.
Now, why don't you do one?

" will I ever learning to type correctly .. " Unlikely Mo. Typing and cooking just don't seem to be your things. But you have many other wonderful talents, so nobody really cares.

Here, here, taxman, I agree.
It's really a question of discipline. If you're here you're against the liberals. If you engage in too much blood sport against your own, it shows a lack of good humor, a lack of common sense, but most importantly an *INSUFFICIENT FOCUS ON THE REAL OPPOSITION*!!
We live in a world where Albert Gore nearly became President. We do *not* have time for such nonsense. I would only add: let's not let the nonsense seem to big or important in our heads. These are just words in cyberspace. They're not worthy of much attention. Really, no one should get *too* reactive or get their feelings hurt too much. This isn't real at all compared to the real protests we do. We have to have that perspective.
I, for one, could withstand all kinds of silliness and ignore all kinds of nonsense in exchange for this excellent venue in which to affect the real world.
My view on anything isn't *that* important. What someone says here in a posting doesn't matter that much. I really think we should take ourselves less seriously and conservatism more seriously. With sufficient discipline along these lines, we should all be fine. I really think we should tickle to death or silly-fy anyone who gets too outraged or pompous about a post. As my brother-in-law says, it's all about attitude.
The real world. This "grassroots conservatism" is supposed to inspire change in the real world. That's the promise of the website that we have to focus on. If someone here has a different focus and posts something strangely ad hominem, well, ignore them, I say!
God Bless Free Republic.

Yep mercy, that sure was some light show. Sounded like hate to me.

"No man thinks more highly than I do of the patriotism, as well as abilities, of the very worthy gentlemen who have just addressed the house. But different men often see the same subject in different lights; and, therefore, I hope it will not be thought disrespectful to those gentlemen if, entertaining as I do opinions of a character very opposite to theirs, I shall speak forth my sentiments freely and without reserve." /Paine
Wow, I liked that. Had to repeat it. Thanks for posting. Paine was the best in patriotic polemicism.

Thass right!
Time to quit quarreling with each other and focus on the real problem. God Bless America, Jim Robinson and the FRee Republic.

Now, why don't you do one?Well the simple answer is I enjoyed his absence. Anyone who wants to pretend that he had not excessively pushed the line is only kidding himself/herself.
I saw what he did to receive the suspension and it would have probably gotten most others permanently banned.
Sorry, but cartoons don't obscure poor judgment and a severe lack of common decency.
I'm not trying to get a big war going......just answering your query.

I kind of agree with that mercy, but, and for me this is a big but, anything libertarian, anything Keyes, anything Buchanan, has been met with a little group of spammers, who continue to bait, and hate, and bait.
And as far as I can tell, not a damn thing was done about it.
Untill I can see a 3rd party post met with logic instead of hate, I'll keep my monthly.

Actually, it was Patrick Henry - it was the start of the "give me liberty, or give me death" speech...

To: M. Thatcher
Well, I view the world as a constant struggle between good and evil. And when good people fight good people, that means that evil people are not engaged, and are able to gain advantage over the good people.
Let us focus on the ones who would destroy us, is all I am saying.
