Just a quick question

Posted on 08/22/2002 7:39:18 PM PDT by vraiblonde

This is my first time to this forum - I actually found you courtesy of the Democratic Underground, if you can believe that. They found my little regional forum (where we lean conservative but it's by no means absolute) and did a virtual panty-raid - proceeded to go crazy on us with their absolute hatred and vitriol. Needless to say, we deleted and banned several of them for foul language, etc.

When we found out where they were coming from, several of us went on their forum and posted rather benign messages like "Don't hide - we welcome all political opinions here" and such. To a man, we got deleted and banned. Seems the Rules of Their Road say that it's for extreme liberals only and any other opinons will be deleted. They then made comments like "They delete you over at Free Republic if you're not a right-winger" and bashed you all for First Amendment violations (the irony was stunning).

So the question is: do you all delete people who have differing opinions, as long as they're not using ugly language, flaming or otherwise being disruptive and abusive? Just curious.

I know that one of the best things about our forums is chasing off the lefties with logic and fact that they can't counter. Makes them revert to name-calling and flaming. Right now they're so outmanned that they're reduced to taking shots at Prescott Bush and his Nazi ties. So, of course, we brought up Old Joe Kennedy, which made them foam at the mouth. *lol*

Everyone is welcome regardless of persuasion. Subjects discussed are varied as the people. We have a special place where you can even be flaming, disruptive, abusive, and use bad language.

Most of the other sections follow the rules of NO PERSONAL ATTACKS, etc. OTHERWISE HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!

The only people DELETED , as you say are , for instance, 1 person that has been banned for the rest of the week for using particularly UGLY LANGUAGE, REPEATEDLY, MAKING PERSONAL ATTACKS, to the point it bored us to death. The MODERATORS gave him a temp. ban to cool off. (in a sense)

I have never seen the moderators or the owner DELETE, as you say, ANYONE for their idealogy, political beliefs, or religion, race, color, or creed.

I know that one of the best things about our forums is chasing off the lefties with logic and fact that they can't counter. Makes them revert to name-calling and flaming.

That is primarily what we do on here also. We also have wonderful informative discussions due the the abundance of talent, and intellect on these threads. You would be amazed at the variety of skills encountered.

Check out the TOPICS section. F.R. covers a wide variety of subjects, as this is an OPEN MINDED type website.

I think I went to DU once, but it may have been only a nightmare I was having.

P.S. We don't always run off the lefties through debate. Some stay because they are treated fairly. Some convert after a while. I think F.R. is one of the best websites on the internet, no matter what your political bent, or what you want to discuss. Want to talk about HOBBITS, it's here. Want to talk about the WEATHER, got it.

RELIGION, got it.

LINKS on here abound, mostly placed by the posters to the theads. SO, instead of the limited links you find on sites where the webmaster has to provide/find them, here you have 1000's of posters with different categories of interest posting links.

I don't think we have that many flatout liberals on FR. But don't let that fool you. Libertarian, conservatives, and hardline republicans have enough to argue about without bringing in Clintoonites. Jump in and have fun. Before long, you'll think you were here all along. We won't talk about the addiction until later...:)

"my little regional forum "

Post a link to it on the appropriate state announcement board and you'll probably get a half dozen new constructive and responsible members!

No, there are all sorts on FR, but mainly it's an incredibly rich source of information on just about anything. There's always someone who has specialised knowledge about something.

There have been a few people who have confused the site owner's property for their own, or for public property. It is not public property, it is private property; like your own living room, people can be invited to stay or invited to leave. You have to be pretty rank to get banned, most are forgiven but a few have gotten permanent neutering. I have yet to figure out what the triggering mechanism is.

If you plan on bashing the Bush's with liberal propaganda you will be booted. Yes, ma'am.

Mr. Robinson.. What is considered liberal propaganda, and how does a person who considers herself a Conservative tell the difference in a disagreement with a Bush policy and what may be considered liberal propaganda? I am sure that I will not always agree with Pres. Bush on all the things he may say or do, but I am not a liberal and never have been one. I voted for Bush and happen to like him very much..

Do I have to worry about something I say if I don't agree? Will I be banned?

I think you should add something to your answer to Vraiblonde, to make us both feel more confidant about our views.

Excellent question Gran. There's plenty of us who campaigned for W, donated to his campaign, voted for him, like him a whole bunch - but who are not thrilled with some of his appointees, some of his legislation, and some of his policy.

To discuss these differences is not "liberal propaganda." Whatever that phrase may mean to Jim Robinson.

My definition would be that whenever a liberal opens their mouth to speak we can expect to hear a lie or at best a distortion or parsing of the truth.

You pose excellent questions, you good points. Jim, I consider myself one of those "broken glass" Republicans described by Peggy Noonan in that I would have crawled on my lips over broken glass to vote for George W. Bush. Yet I vehemently disagree with a number of his policies and proposed policies. Example: he recently proposed providing taxpayer dollars (my hubby and I pay a huge amount to the federal governement) to help minorities buy houses. ??!! We are both in our forties, been married nearly ten years, and just Aug. 1 were able to close escrow on our first home (which was the result of a great deal of hard work and sacrifice). And yet, here is President Bush proposing using OUR MONEY to help OTHER people buy homes simply because they aren't white! I suppose I'm racist now, too. I also oppose his appointment of "underperformin'" Norman Mineta to be head of transportation, and Christy Todd Whitman to head the EPA. HOWEVER, I wholeheartedly support President Bush's proposal to manage our National Forests. I hope you would not ban me or delete my posts for opposing some of his policies and appointments.

I don't think JimRob means that by simply oppossing or disagreeing with the President means you are not welcome here.

We all know what the agenda of the Liberal side is...remember just last week or the week before, the media was hell bent on trying to convince us that Bush was backing away from support of Simon...and lo and behold, here he was just this very weekend, joining in the campaign...

So people who jump on here, and start calling Bush names, and attacking him, calling him a traitor to the party, a sell out for abandoning the party who elected him, based on this Liberal cabal is the type of thing that is not allowed...nor should it be.

Disagreeing, and following up on that disagreement with factual, well thought out, RESPECTFUL and reasoned facts is surely allowed.

I respectfully submit that simply by using common sense, a level head, and reasoned and well thought out words , your point will go further in getting your point across.

Good reply. I certainly hope I can disagree without being called a Liberal Disruptor.

...calling Bush names, and attacking him, calling him a traitor to the party, a sell out for abandoning the party who elected him, based on this Liberal cabal is the type of thing that is not allowed...nor should it be.

In my disagreement, I have never done any of things, as I have seen many others do.

Good to hear from you ma'am....

I just had a brain surge...thinking over this issue...

This for example is something a Liberal Disruptor would post...remember hearing the rumor that the Bush Administration KNEW IN advance of the impending 9/11 attack and DIDN'T TELL ANYONE?? and LET IT HAPPEN?? And the Bush Administration in essence responsible for the murder of those innocents??

Or, this example I remember seeing, "THIS WAR IS ABOUT NOTHING BUT OIL" and then the poster goes off all half-cocked about "SHRUB is following in his DADDY's footsteps..HE IS BIG OIL..YADA YADA"

Ok, I am finished here..LOL...
