We are supposed to get dumped on (rain showers) later today as a cold front moves through and be in the low 80's the rest of the weekend... suuuwweeet.

Yep, once when driving through the country near Crawford we saw a huge emu next to a fence watching cars go by and it surprised Gabe and me so much that it took us a few minutes to realize what it was - then it ran off very fast.
Emus and ostriches were popular in Washington, too... in the county where I lived a giant male ostrich kicked an elderly man to death in his pen.

Whats the difference between an Emu and an Ostrich anyway?

How desperate will some single women get?
"We're still looking for either a naked man with huge eyes or an emu," ...

Ratites ("RAT-tights") are a family of flightless birds with small wings and flat breastbones. Ostrich, emu ("E-mew") and rhea ("REE-ah") are members of this family. Ostrich is native to Africa; emu, to Australia; and rhea, to South America -- particularly the grasslands of Argentina.
When fully grown, ostriches -- the largest birds in the world -- stand about seven to eight-feet tall and can weigh 300 to 400 pounds; emu are about six feet tall and weigh 125 to 140 pounds. Adult rheas are about five feet tall and weigh 60 to 100 pounds. The birds are 95-percent usable as meat, feathers, oil and leather.

They hubby says Priestly should never have been driving that car because he wasn't ready for it .. Hard to tell a guy he isn't ready to drive when he owns the car.

Is it true there is a lot of EMU ranches in Texas? There are a l;ot of Ranches in Texas period, end of statement.
Actually I don't think there are many Emu ranches anywhere. It is just people with a handful of birds. There is no real commercial market for them.

The birds are 95-percent usable as meat, feathers, oil and leather. They must be expensive to raise. I have heard of ostrich skin boots, but not emu.

They have never gotten the price down far enough to make the meat marketable in quantity. Like Ted Turners Buffalo. he now has a couple a hundred thousand, but they have to sell the meat at twice the price of beef and people just won't pay that
