AMERICA - The Right Way!! (Days 574-575)WEEKEND EDITION [Remember the Trade Center!!]
Various News Sources & Freepers | Aug. 17, 2002 | All of Us

Posted on 08/17/2002 4:24:01 AM PDT by Molly Pitcher

Good morning everyone!

In national news, the President continues, much to the media's annoyance, his Crawford, Texas, vacation.

Bush says he's listening to differing voices on the Iraq question. [Presumably the media feels reassured about this...]

Baseball players have set Aug. 30 as strike day if significant progress with the team owners hasn't been achieved by then.

Locally, more rain yesterday for our parched area, and

a police officer, shot and killed in the line of duty, was buried with moving tributes and ceremony on Friday.

Weather is half-way decent. Cooler and dryer.

Packer game tonight; not in town though.

I'm not too happy with hubby right now.

Last night his van (the company van) was broken into .... and both his Palm PDA and our digital camera were stolen out of it. Nothing else was even disturbed ..... the truck wasn't damaged ..... because the doors were UNLOCKED!

I have asked him hundreds of times to keep the truck locked ...... but he says it's too much trouble.

And the Palm has all kinds of info that really doesn't need to be in the hands of the kind of person who would steal it ...... phone numbers, addresses, customer info. There is a way to secure the info so it can only be accessed with a password ..... and he has ignored my requests that he do so .... too much trouble ...... *sigh*.

He's in the dog house in a BIG way.

He's ordered pizza for supper and it's just arrived ..... I'll go eat before committing the crime ....... *grins*

AHHH a MAN thing..I see now...I kinda figured at least...hmmm I can understand that tho..my brother once had his car stolen from our driveway...it surely helped the thief by leaving the key in the ignition and money on the seat for gas...

Hey neighbor! I'll be in Nashville tomorrow morning, but have to hurry back right after church to make Chinese food with some friends that are coming over. I've got to tie a string around my finger to remind myself to call you next time I go with a little leisure time.

For anyone who wonders, as I do, just how big the downside is to government enforced safety regulations, here's an article that discusses it. I posted it, but it ain't getting much traffic on a Saturday afternoon.

ROTFLMHO!

That's almost as bad as the time a friend of mine went back into her house for something, left her purse on the front seat of the car AND the car running! When she went back outside, both the purse and car were GONE!

I've been reading with interest your comments about your daughter and her adjusting to public school....NOT THAT I AM an expert, FAR FROM IT especially LATELY, but one thing that I think REALLY REALLY hurt Renata was that she had such a thirst for knowlege...always wanted MORE and MORE CHALLENGING things, and wanted to do things quite on her own.

My experience was that the public schools discouraged this in her, as part of this socialization crap..you know? avoid hurting others feelings by praising her; stiffling her quest for more...I even had one teacher tell me to encourage her to do more SOCIAL things instead of teaching herself how to write her name and how to do math....that she was only hurting herself in the long run. DO NOT LET THEM RUN THAT CON GAME ON YOU.

Yesterday when I was at the high school to translate for those Chinese boys, I asked the librarian and one of their teachers what "deportment" is as I had seen it on their schedule. They said it means "attitude," but that didn't make sense to me because you can't put "attitude" on your class schedule and expect students to know what to do. It seemed to be one of those things that they understood perfectly and yet I didn't get it. My main question was how long it was and their answers didn't match up with my questions.

Finally they got through to me and I understood it to be a grade you get on your report card, something you can lose points for by chewing gum, talking in class, etc. When the lights went on I smiled and said, "Oh, socialization!" I'm not sure if they appreciated my little joke...or whether they even understood that I meant it to sting a little.

I'm sorry I hollered and then ran!

Have you been to the new Central Market on Lovers Lane?

I just went (big mistake on a saturday) and WOW!

You and Trill need to go to get ideas for your B and B.

Variety is the watchword. You can get butter from the country of your choice. Wonderous produce and meat.

We are grilling the most beautiful prime steaks I've seen in a long while.

If you can tolerate all the Highland Park moms you'll love it.

Still Lurking's rating: two thumbs up!
