Good morning everyone!

An article posted overnight reminds me that the 2002 elections are not far away.

Here in ATRW land we're paying attention to the N.J. Senate race, and the Maryland Gov. race.

Next Tuesday, there are more primaries, and we can expect more and more polls.

Yippee!! NOT!

And the 2002 Summer Vacation Season winds down.

Chairman, have a perfectly wonderful vacation, and return to us rested and recharged!

Oh come on now! You both know that President Bush caused global warming and made it rain in Europe! He is an amazing man!!

(And these are the people that the Dems want us to be more like!!)

So I should write the President and ask for cooler weather for next week, when I'll be living in a tent? If he can make it flood, he should surely be able to give me a week of 78 degrees.

The euro-trash seem to have lost the ability to think clearly. Soon after that happens, the means of production become crippled. They will starve themselves with their stupidity. Unless we bail them out again.

And the astounding part is that they truly believe it! American and especially Republican presidents are the font of all evil according to most Europeans. It is the most amazing thing to listen to. I had a group of friends last year visit, and one of them brought of friend of hers from England. Oh my, she believed that the end of the world was here because President Bush was president. We were all going to die because of global warming, etc etc. It was going to be an environmental disaster. When I got tired of her comments, I simply pointed out that 20 years ago, people were afraid of freezing to death. She then irrationally said that both were possibilities, we never knew what could happen, why there was some old elephant stuck in England during the Ice Age. Apparently the wooly mammoth was just peacefully grazing one day and the Ice Age happened and he froze in place. And that could happen to us too.

After that tirade, I ceased making comments to her. :) But as a society, Europeans and the Brits are exceedingly amoral. They live for the moment, and the government is their nanny. She freely admitted this. No religion because they don't believe in God. It really opened my eyes up.

We were given our course materials for next week and told to study up to be prepared. A few highlights: This course does cover mortuary service, unlike what I had been lead to believe. It also covers putting up the GP medium tent. With untrained personnel, that is a lot like wrestling with a giant octopus while trapped under a heavy layer of canvas. We also get to learn to operate the portable heaters (mildly dangerous) and field stoves that operate on gasoline (very dangerous). For the last, I will pick my partner, and will stay well away from a couple of guys that I'm sure rode on the short bus. LOL!

I was told that the up-side was that it has been really hot down here, so the bugs are fewer. It's times like this when I wonder if Trill was correct about me losing my mind.

YOu sound just like my best friend's husband. He loved being in the Army and was so sad the day he voluntarily retired. He said it was just like being in Boy Scouts all the time. Thank heavens we have men like you and like him. :)

When Europe lost its moral bearings, and threw God out of their cultures, they lost their ability to think clearly and rationally.

The same is true of those in America who have done the same thing. Romans 1:22.."Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools......They exchanged the truth of God for a lie....."

A crowd had gathered at the day care by the time Welch arrived, he said, and as he approached, one young man hopped over the fence into the yard. The bear charged, and the man hopped out, then started walking along the fence closer to the bear.

I'd have been tempted to shoot this jerk, too.

When trooper Bill Welch responded to an aggressive bear call from the Girdwood Volunteer Fire Department about 10 p.m., he found the culprit in the fenced-in yard at Little Bears Playhouse day care, sitting on a slide.

Sounds like a very appropriate place for the bear to me ....... *grins*

Have you ever heard grass cry out in joy?!!!

We've had rain this afternoon ...... real, honest to goodness, wet rain!!!!! Hallelujah!!!!!

We've had about 3/4 of an inch so far ...... and from the sound of thunder I hear, we've got some more on the way.

It won't help the drought situation but it sure will help my poor brown grass and thirsty plants! Praise God!

Btw, I understand that Bush has taken all our rain and had it dumped on Europe. I'm sure that even he didn't realize he had such powers.

Sorry to hear about your bear. Glad no humans were hurt. I still haven't seen the post-office cat, but fed the squirrel peanuts this morning while I had my first cup of java.

I'm glad you finally got rain. After putting a lot of work into a yard, it hurts to watch it die because of the weather.

Oh, thank God for the rain! I am so glad. Maybe the weather is breaking and we will get cooler, wetter weather!

You know, I saw those floods on the news this evening...I am really sorry for the folks in Europe, but blaming Bush???!!??

Massive shipments of tin foil should be sent, immediately!

In case I miss you (quite likely with my babysitting schedule) good luck on your training trip! Speaking as an older person trying to do the work of someone 20 years younger (child care) you have my prayers and sympathies!

You can do it, I know! You are one tough hombre! Take care!

That's what we'll be doing on our next couple of trips, driving. After all the years I flew, I will not have a bunch of goober heads frisking me for whatever. We're both blonde and don't you know they would pick us out and one of us have ancestors who date back a few thousand years on this continent. And being the shy, retiring individual I am, I would be hauled away in chains for speaking in such a way that every dock in Dallas Airport would hear it.

You can do it, I know!

Of course I will. I'm going to cheat. LOL! I'm 40. I'm going to get the job done the easiest way possible. I'll substitute experience for brawn.

I did get the instructor to admit that this was a training excersize that emulates what happens in the real world. I got him to repeat it several times.

I will pack accordingly. I'll even have extra items for my team-mates. And if I get in trouble for some of the things I take along, I can remind the instructor about the real-world bit.... In the real world, old guys pack stuff that the instructors may not think about. LOL!

Thanks for your well-wishes. ATRW has been a load-lightener when things get tough. I think about all y'all a lot.

"I'm glad it wasn't something worse"

Me too. He was really sick that night; dizzy, disoriented, feverish, the works.

I'm still a little bit concerned because of the fact that he was out in the woods for 10 days a couple of weeks ago; and of course was bitten several times by various & sundry insects; and his symptoms were consistent with those of first stage Lyme Disease. He has his annual physical on Monday so maybe they'll want to test him.

It might be wise to have them check for that. It's scarey when your kids get sick. I'm glad he's doing better. Prayers continue.

Wisconsin is one of the states that has a higher risk for Lyme; and he was virtually outdoors continuously for about 10 days; and he tells me he has a rash on his tushie which he thought was from spider bites, but who knows? So I think maybe I will encourage the doctor to test him........

HOW YA DOIN' JOHNNY????? What's this about a training trip???

Species, thanks so much for posting that info. It makes a difference to have the full story.

bev, I spent some time trying to find the terrible two on trikes but had no luck. The nearest I found was Daschle riding on Gephardt's shoulders. Maybe lysie or Dog can find it for us.

still lurking, no one could possibly resist a Shirley Temple lookalike.
