AMERICA - The Right Way!! (Day 570) [Remember the Trade Center!!]
Various News Sources and FReepers | August 13, 2002 | All of Us

Posted on 08/13/2002 4:06:06 AM PDT by Chairman_December_19th_Society

We will not tire, we will not falter and we will not fail! [President Bush]

Good Morning!! Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!

The Justice Department has annouced that, beginning September 11, 2002, thousands of foreign visitors, mostly from Mideast and Arab countries, will be fingerprinted and photographed at the border.

Back in June, it is now being revealed, Martha Stewart approached a House panel through an aide. She asked the Panel to issue a statement clearing her. The spokesman for the House Energy and Commerce Committee said they were "stunned."

There is a report circulating on Drudge that says the United States will, if necessary, seize Arab airports by force to allow an offensive against Iraq. Diplomatic sources, according to the Drudge report, say that Arab countries should take America's war preparations very seriously.

A high-ranking Administration official has confirmed the United States received reports yesterday from an unnamed foreign government that Al Qa'eda was planning to hit major United States targets. Some locations suggested were the Golden Gate Bridge, the Brooklyn Bridge, and a "major landmark" in Chicago. The official was careful to point out these were not confirmed "targets" but rather possibilities.

For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.

I bought some archival sleeves at a comic book store to store antique sheet music (which, by the way, is highly collectible especially if the covers are colorful, historical, or have a famous person on them). I would bet someone at one of the university libraries could give you a local source for supplies like this.

Oooh! That is old stuff!

If it's that fragile, it should stored horizontally, or flat, in drawers, in a unit so designed, and as Jane suggests, archival sleeves would be good.

There must be some good university music schools in the St. Louis area.

Contact the music librarian and get some advice.

If it's not that old, but still oversized, there are legal-sized filing cabinets, and you can probably find a used one cheaper at specialized office stores.

If the music isn't oversized and not archival material, a regular filing cabinet would do.

So IOW, you could very well end up with a special archive section, and an oversized section, too!

You sound like you have loads of music!

Silvadene was what they gave me when I burned my arm back in December. It has a texture like Noxemia but did not dry...took the "STING" away.

What a coincidence! My order from Amazon just arrived today also. I ordered:

Red Rabbit by Tom Clancy
What Went Wrong: Western Impact and Middle Eastern Response by Bernard Lewis
Unix System Administration Handbook, 3rd edition
The Veteran: Five Heart-Stopping Stories To Cut a Long Story Shortby Frederick Forsyth

I do love Clancy's books, I've heard some good things about it. Frederick Forsyth is another of my favorite authors, he has retired from writing now.

And I also visited Borders bookstore this evening and picked up a quilting magazine and a book called Way to Be! 9 Ways to Be Happy and Make Something of Your Life by Gordon B Hinckley, president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I really enjoyed his last book Stand for Something , he has the ability to make you feel as if you can live a really good life, and gives some very good advice for doing so. It isn't deep theologically, and is also pretty non-denominational. As soon as I finish Way to Be!, I'll do a little book report on it.

So many books, so little time. :)

"So many books, so little time. :)"

And so little space! I donated a carload of books today, to my local library.

You gave away books??? My heart, my heart. :) I have so many books and bookcases in my house, and each one is a friend. Let me know how 'Final Dawn over Jerusalem' is, it sounds intriguing.

You might also find folders/files/storage boxes for the older music at places where you find scrapbooking supplies. Most of that type of stuff is of archival quality.

I think Utah Girl and Snowtrill both do some scrapbooking or know people who do.

You don't know how hard it is for me to part with books! After all, these have only been collecting over the 14 yrs, I've lived here. And considering the several, Amazon deliveries I get, per year......well, you get the picture. A large part were textbooks, (for some reason, I'd accumulated over 5 different Calculus books, and that is a subject, I'd like to forget!)

Compound this problem, with the fact that I'm also a genealogist, and you see the difficulty I have with parting with "things". I'm in a purge mode right now, because I'm moving, but I'm also trying to hold on to the lasting things!

Trill does do scrap-booking and it is archival materials that they use.

One more night on nights. Then back to a more normal shift. I will be SO glad. Also, we lose the Navy guys after tomorrow, and I must say, I'm sort of glad about that.

I just figured out why I have a headache. I wore my TV glasses instead of my bifocals today. I didn't even notice. Sheesh. I notice now....

We have un-numbered thousands of books. One day I'll make book shelves.

I'm glad you like The New Professional Chef book. I use it a lot. It's very handy.

I also inherited some old sheet music from my grandmother and a great-aunt. I bought some non-acidic plastic sheet protectors and put them in them, and then my mom made me a binder to put them in. She bought a non-acidic paper binder, and put some really old-fashioned looking paper on it, and then printed a label for the binding back. I have loads of piano sheet music myself too, so I have a little display by my piano.

Ooops, post 172 is for you too... I have a horrible time parting with books. My brother-in-law swore he would never help me move again after the last time, 25 boxes of books. And I have lots more now...

I've done that. I used to have computer glasses and then a pair of bifocals. I couldn't see long distances with the computer glasses (I'd wear them at work.) So one day, I'd alternate with the computer glasses at the computer, and the bifocals walking around. After two hours, I literally couldn't see straight! So when I had my eyes checked last year, I just went for the bifocals.

My TV glasses are my regular 'scrip, without the reading glasses part. I have to use that pair if I want to lay down and watch TV. Otherwise, I wind up looking through the reading glasses part.

I can see just fine with the TV glasses on, but reading is a strain that my eyes try to adapt to. LOL!

I should probably call it a night too. My Siamese has jumped on the keyboard again, and that is a sign that she is ready for bed. Take care...
