There shouldn't be sparks. Are the tiles coming up ok without tearing up the concrete?

I haven't come across Half-Price Books here yet, but I'm still learning my way around. My sister, however, orders books from a discount place and is somewhat of a collector herself so also knows how to find the hard-to-find stuff. She wants me to order with her to save postage for both of us so I'll look through her catalog for Wodehouse books.

isn't there a cake that needs baking??

Yeah, and John is ever more skilled at that than I am.

Besides, I've always been very good at destruction....

That is my husband's forte...destruction! As a mining engineer, he loved explosives. Most of his projects begin with "first tear down..."

The rebuilding part is what he's slow on. LOL!

We're still working on staining the deck ..... hope to get it finished today.

My part has been the detail work. We chose to use some metal balusters and, in order to avoid getting stain on them, I have done the wood parts they connect into with a craft paint brush. I've finished that part so the rest will go much faster.

Here's a picture of the type of rail we have ...... this is not a picture of my deck.

We have learned something quite interesting from this experience. If you have black on a fence, rail, or whatever it is easier to "see through" ...... your eye goes beyond the material to the scenery. With white or a lighter color, your eye stops with the fence or rail and you don't "see through" it but see the fence itself.

I don't think I'm explaining that very well but notice as you're driving around and you'll see what I mean. If you see a place with a white fence around it, you tend to see the fence but if it has a black fence then you see what is beyond the fence.

Now that I have enlightened you all on that, it's back to work I go .....

I'm going to drop off line for a little bit. I need a nap. Be careful with the power tools, sweetie.

Try tomorrow, Guenevere. One more thing about the movie. There is a lot of appealing, gentle humor in it and the kids are adorable. Didn't want my opinion to sound extra-negative.

Raven - Did you ever use the branch library on Market St. when you were here? Ayres Branch?

It's closed now, and the new branch has just opened.

Just got back from the opening ceremonies. Very nice and spacious!

The latest American Spectator has an extensive interview with Robert Bork about the USSC.

On the cover of the magazine, the photo of the various justices is altered to make them all look silly, except.....Rehnquist, Thomas, and Scalia!

Husband about to begin the computer operation.

Later, all...

/john ... I was mindful of you and Trill yesterday ... a B&B in my area is now on the market ... a home dating back to pre-Washington ... a beautiful structure.

I was having fun picturing you both taking it ... and me planting an authentic 1750's Settlers garden ... *grins*

Miss Marple ... Cassie ... I believe she is the only creature on the planet that can blithely ignore your wishes ... others try ... but never really succeed. HA! I am after wondering if she is an indication of His wondrous sense of humor. LOL! Happy Birthday to you Mom, Miss Marple.

Well, I am bored with vibrating!

I've been in the lounger the past two hours w/the vibration button on, and the heating pad on medium.

My lower back is toasted & tuned......ROTFLOL!!...(this is definitely NOT a guennie quote!)

My husband has been in his study all afternoon playing a submarine game....Ping...Ping...Ping....
...he likes to be the Commander :)

Maybe I will take a nap....

illstillbe, Mozie said she would be taking a few short outings.....one lasting all day.

DJ is at Hilton Head with her extended family.

Yes, it is tomorrow, Sunday when I try again to leave.

BTW, I REALLY hate traveling and so I did NOT read the entire World story on Lisa Beamer. It messes with my mind and I would not be able to get into the planes. Aaach.

Just keep focused.

I am trying to figure out how to explain the 12# of soft lead in my carry ons and the two identical pair of men's boxer shorts ~ silk, no less, and the dive knife ! it is NOT in the carry on, it will be checked and the plumber's snake and the fifteen metric/standard rulers. The list goes on and on.

And the UPS

And the modem

I'm tired just thinking about it!

I hate to travel.

if you have black...

Exactamundo, our kayak ... this is a landscaper's *joy* ... closing in ... while leaving it open

On the other hand ... I once designed a garden which was directly in front of a solid, 8' high white fence ...

What fun! For it proved to be a canvas for me to paint a design ... 'twas one of my favorites.
