The landlords tack on a big late fee if the rent is paid a couple of days late. Trying to live in central Texas in the summer without a working a/c is a much bigger inconvenience over a few days... I think I should factor in rent reductions for each day without a/c.

I do when it works..... which it doesn't this week. I've called every day, and was told someone will be here - now it is almost 5 and no one has been here yet.

The heat index is 101 here, I hate to think what it is "down south". NC had temps pushing upper 90's everyday this time of year, but it had a "dry" humidity.. LOL!

It is over 100 degrees. There is a steady breeze blowing and the windows are open, but it's not a cool breeze.
