hehehe. I'll remember that.

I didn't know, and I was married for a lot of years (but my husband never mowed the lawn - the landlord did)

"The only secret we have and you tell the world." LOL! I can see it.
To: sweetliberty; Servant of the Nine
I spent half of the week on a tractor. I do not think any fantasies were involved. Fireants (the most appropriately named creatures in the universe) were. Hmmm ... Servant/Fireant: Coincidence or something more sinister ...
To: catpuppy
Yeoooww.. you can't win a battle with fireants
To: catpuppy
"Coincidence or something more sinister ..." Well, you have to consider that it IS Swervie that you're talking about.
To: ValerieUSA
You can outrun them on a tractor.
To: catpuppy
I can't -- I don't have a tractor. I'll have to fantasize elsewhere about outrunning fireants

"Teens make unusual apology." Somebody call the UN! These children are being abused! Their rights are being violated! Good thing the UN wasn't around with their "Rights of the Child" crap when my mommy was trying to civilize me! She'd have been in deep trouble...

Oh mine too. My mama used to wail the tar out of me when I was a kid, whether I needed it or not. In fact, I would venture to guess that most of us here had parents that would likely be jailed today for child abuse.
To: sweetliberty
I didn't get spanked all that often, but when I did get my butt paddled, I really really deserved it, and I knew it! My Mom was one of these parents that wouldn't let me do anything I wanted, wouldn't let me backtalk her, and made sure I did what I was told. It wasn't a democracy at my house, and no negotiations. I've seen parents these days making deals with their kids, and negotiating with really young children!! And I'm thinking to myself, "Who's in charge of THIS household? It sure ain't mama."

Sometimes I deserved it, but my mama had a bad temper. Ususally how much I got away with was in direct proportion to what kind of mood she was in and how much sleep she'd had. I did have a real smart mouth and a knack for staying out of swinging distance.

I spanked my kids when they were little and needed it... reasoning with a 3 yr old makes no sense. There are rules you can't argue against... especially safety rules. Gravity is gravity whether or not a pre-schooler wants it to be gravity.
