Movies or shows I won't watch because of who is in them

I saw Paul Newman the other day, and I hardly recognized him ! He has gotten old, and it's hard to understand him when he speaks. How old is this guy, anyway ?

You would really go see a movie about stamp collecting? I would rather see a movie with Alec Baldwin in it than a movie about stamp collection.

If people choose not to see movies, for whatever reason, what difference does it make to you or anyone else. Movies are certainly not vital to anyone's life, nor ar they life changing. Most are pure fantasy. If you like to see them-fine. if you don't like movies with a@@holes in them don't go. It's simple. If Hollywood goes broke It wouldn't bother me in the least.

Hollywood finds it very carefull not to encurage people to smoke, polute, and stray from what is PC, but they have no problem spreading immoral and bankrupt lifestyles. Pat's speech deserves it own post. Thanks.

Now let's suppose that Alec Baldwin stars in a movie about stamp collecting. I am faced with a choice of seeing the movie about a subject I am devoted to, or passing on it because Baldwin is in it. I would choose to see it, in spite of Baldwin's presence.

My choice would be to first find out if it was a good movie. If so, then I would decide whether or not to make the effort of seeing it. Since I have some friends who see every movie that comes out (yes, even the bad ones), that saves me time, effort, and money whenever the movie stinks (which is most of the time).

Let's say that I shoot guns. Hollywood makes a movie about guns. After they totally screw up the history, use and tactics of guns, I don't bother going to see a movie about guns again. Then Hollywood makes another movie about guns and I already learned my lesson the first time, and I tell people on a website that I don't care to see Hollywood screw up a subject that I'm familiar with. ETC.

I'm surprised Redford hasn't been mentioned or even more significant, any of the fatcat producers who really control what goes on the screen - the redstones, the Weinsteins, etc are the ones who control what gets made and written and they are for the most part anti Christian and political leftists though the Clinton kind, not the Marxist kind.

Hollywood faces a crisis of identity. At this point most of its revenues come in from international revenues and so there is a need to pander to international audiences. Second, the H'wood establishment understands however that films and stars (after all the star system is a creation of Hollywood) have to craft a pro American but anti authoritarian message to the world, that somehow, America is wonderful when leftist values prevail and when America "feels the pain." Finally, there is an element that despicably and deliberately undermine America through its movies. Most often this happens in the indie world where directors can bash Amrieca and get away with it. Redford through his Sundance Institute promotes this kind of underground rebellion but indie films have gone nowhere and Hollywood knows it. That's why they refrain from openly anti American moviemaking.

I agree. And if something or someone truly offends you, then you have the rigth to make another choice. My point is simply that I can disassociate the peformer with the agenda. If there's a movie I want to see, I'm not going to check out the performers political resume first...

Yeah, I'm just having a good time snobbily thinking about what jerks I think some of these artists are. There's some good art out there that ought to be appreciated.

I wish someone would figure out why the art world is so leftist. Being leftist means you have to conform (as political correctness makes obvious); artists take pride in being free spirits.

Also, I believe there are some folks who call themselves liberals that are pretty decent human beings in spite of their idiotic politics. I think Jimmy Buffet may be one. I listen to his stuff anyway.

That is just a bad movie vs bad personal opinions.

These "performers" would keep their mouths shut if it affected their acting income. People do not care what an actor or actress thinks. The bottom like is they have no power other than their personality on the big or little screen.

tom cruise ofends a nation but people still go to see minority report. what her name insults the oscar audience and no one cares about her the folloing day. Remember the history of the ancient theater and its social commentary. Not much has changed except for actors and actreses forgetting what it is they do and who they are.

If they want to comment, save it for the screen. If we as an audience approve we will throw you a few coins.
