My good friend and veteran Freeper, TroutStalker is scheduled for surgery today at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland OH.
Post your "Get Well Quick" wishes to TroutStalker here.
I will make sure that he gets the URL to this thread or, if needed, I will print it out and get it to him.
TroutStalker is a veteran Freeper. He and his dog Max freeped clinton when he was here at the VFW convention, counter freeped anti-gun nuts at the NRA convention and was one of the leaders of the many protests we had during the 2000 Presidential election fiasco. He posts a lot of Wall Street Journal articles and joins various discussions.
TroutStalker suffers from Crohn's disease. Crohn's disease is a chronic condition and may recur at various times over a lifetime. Some people have long periods of remission, sometimes for years, when they are free of symptoms. For more information click the link above or check out this list.
He has been experiencing pretty severe pain and discomfort for some time. The surgery today will remove a small section of the intestine that has become scarred and is causing the problem. He could be hospitalized for about 10 days. It should help cheer him during the recovery process to read positive comments from all of his friends on FR.

Thanks KC for tagging me about this. I've been working so hard, I bearly even have time to go online anymore...
Hey Trout! I hope everything worked out well for you with your surgery. You know you will be in mine, and all of our prayers. But with an election coming up soon, I don't think anything will be able to keep you down long.
Best wishes for a very speedy recovery.

Has Mrs. TS outfitted Max with a nurses uniform so that he may pass in and out of your hospital room undetected? I hope so. But don't let him get you into any poker games while he's there. That dog has a mean bluff!
Dittos to lagamorph. We do have a dog in this hunt. Early voting starts July 24. Vote Shallenburger.
And barker, you beat me. Free State One and Two keep me busy during the summer.
Get well quickly, TS. We can't do the mid-term elections without you!!!! fsf

I just got my first update on TroutStalker. There were some complications during the surgery, but he is doing well.
He will remain in the hospital this week but they are hoping he will be discharged on Saturday or Sunday.
One other thing of interest... when he came out of surgery, the semi private room he was supposed to have was not available - so he was placed in a private VIP room with mahogany, marble, carpet and paintings on the wall!!!
He is receiving attentive care.
Thank you all for replying on this thread

Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes from all my friends at FreeRepublic.
I left the hospital last Friday and arrived home Saturday afternoon, and have been slowly gathering strength since then. Although it is great to be home, I have been unable to do much except rest. It is a real treat to be back on FR.
The extent of my surgery was considerably more than what I had been expecting; the x-rays did not show the full extent of the damage to my small intestine. When my surgeon opened me he realized we were in for a long day; what was supposed to be an hour and a half turned into almost six hours. The scar tissue in the small bowel was 30 cm long, and worse, had entangeled both ureters and attached to the back of the abdominal wall, so a kidney surgeon was summoned as well to sever and resection the ureters, which were in bad condition and difficult to suture.
The next five days were only endurable because I believed the Lord has a purpose for my survival, and I absolutely refused to leave my dear wife alone. The PCA pump of fentanyl helped as well.
Again, thanks for your prayers, friends, I know they made a difference.
To: TroutStalker
Of course the Lord has a purpose for your survival. You are needed to educate those gun-grabbin' idjits out there!
Good to hear you are back home. No matter how deluxe the hospital room - it's always better at home. Greetings to Mrs. TS and to Max. fsf
PS Bummer about all the surgery you had to endure. What an ordeal!
To: TroutStalker
Glory be to God for your complete recovery.
