Lasagna recipes apparently have the same emotional impact as the beef v. pork BBQ preferences. ;)

Loddy, that's the look. So serious and soulful. I can hear that pup howling while looking at the pic. :)

The puppies are precious.

Thanks Kathleen..I'm trying not to get too bummed out over this...she's had a few episodes of not being able to get up..and then all of a sudden she'll start running around like a nut case..but they are happening all too frequently now...and lasting for longer periods of time...and today my Mom says this is the worse she's seen her...I told Mom if anything drastic happens...to call me .

When I first met hubby, he had a German Shepherd wolf dog who resented me at first, then became my best friend. He lived to be 16, and watching him deteriorate was so painful. We had to send him to sleep, and it was one of the most difficult things I've ever done.

My heart goes out to you. Sending positive thoughts and prayers your way.

I don't know if bassets ever grow into their ears lol
there is no way to describe the length and loveliness of Lulu's ears
they are smooth as velvet and have soft folds in them too
her head and ears are black perfectly blended with chestnut
her tummy is white with freckles

it is unusual beauty, I thought she was ugly when I first got her
(bassets look like a dwarf)
then I discovered how interesting she was to look at
then suddenly I saw her beauty

;-) Nothing much sweeter than basset pups. But when they grow up, and find their "voice" - yikes - enough to wake the dead.

Good luck with poochie Neets. Toughest duty of all, but she'll let you know when it's time, but that doesn't make it any easier for you. Thoughts and prayers up. JL bbl

try not to read Kathleen's post bout the self boiled lasagna noodles
our chickie flipped when she read it

I say different strokes for different folks
altho I can see why she wouldn't want the lasagna noodles named after herself

we can change the name to kathleen's noodles :)

lol kathleen, andysmom was excited bout not having to boil noodles anymore
at least you came up with substitute plan for her

Is Lulu a watchdog? Candy is definitely not.

If Jack the Ripper showed up at my door, Candy would wag her tail at him and vamp him for treats. ;)

neither Lulu nor Happy are watch dogs
they would treat jack the ripper same as Candy does
Lulu just wants pets from strangers
Happy doesn't bother to go to door when he is listening to the radio
Happy is a flake

Howdy all, I am always the last one online...today here is sunny, 66 degrees due to go up to 85, blue, blue skies, and just wonderful Western Washington weather...

The great lasagne debate....I love it...I will have to try out all the methods...NO BOIL noodles, regular noodles, not boiled, and regualr noodles boiled...time for a taste comparison test...will be fun...

Neets...sorry to hear troubles about your 'baby'...its so hard to lose our dearest friends...my husband and I have often wondered why it is, that our dearest friends have such short lifespans in comparison to we humans....and why is a tortoise blessed with 100 yrs of life, when few have a tortoise for a pet...why cant our doggies and kitties live to be as old as we do? Hard questions, no answers...I will be thinking of you today, as you cope with your 'babys' declining health...

Palo, have a fine walkie with the wonderful Lulu...the sight of Lulu scouting out places to sniff, and the lovely Palo on the other end of the leash, is indeed a pretty picture...

Loddy, thanks for those bassety pics, and the link to the basset hound site...went there, and found wonderful pics of the magnificent basset hound, a treat for ones eyes...

Basset hound ears are very functional...they are used to shield the eyes from the sun, as a basset hound can readily get his ears over his eyes while in sleep mode, to prevent the sunlight from interrupting that sleep...basset ears are useful for wiping slobber from the bassety mouth...basset ears are a souce of amusement to the basset, who can then take a long drink, get their ears into the water bowl and soak said ears, and then shake their head, and spray all those humans within earshot with water...(said basset giggles and gets a kick out of spraying his human food slaves)...Basset ears do tend to act deaf, when said human food slaves become prone to shouting orders, to reprimanding the basset for some perceived wrong...however, basset ears can hear remarkably well, when the fridge door is being opened, or a can of dog food is being opened....Bassets encourage folks to stroke their ears, because as Palo has said, those long ears are velvety to the touch....in short, the Basset Hound ear, is a divine work of nature...

Well, so much for bassety meanderings in my mind...need to get back to reality, and go start dinner for the hubby...

See ya all in a little while....

All this talk of lasagne is great....dont have time this week to make a lasagne, but next week, am going to have to make a tasty lasagne...

As we will be gone for the next few days, sampling foods at the Pike Place Public Market, going out to dine at local restaurants in the Seattle area, and then indulging in a thick slab of lasagne next week, I will be in explode mode for a while...

And while at the Pike Place Market, we always wind up buyin lots of fresh seafood(which they can pack in dry ice), and then we visit the wonderful Italian grocer, and make several purchases there...well, its going to be a food fest here for a while...

Habs asked previously if they really do throw fish at the Pike Place Market, and I replied, that indeed, they do throw those fish...those fishmongers, throw, and holler, and try to grab the customers for fresh fish purchases....

One time, BigDom, almost got smacked in the head by one of those flying fish...one must be careful when purchasing fish and seafood at the Pike Place Market...you never thought food purchase could be a dangerous activity, but it can....

But its all great fun, and wonderful eats...

Since the weather is going to be great this weekend, I also expect there to be more than the usual number of street performers, and street musicians there....and of course, the usual number of tourists...

Usually we try to go to the Market, not so much in the summer, because it really does get exceedingly jammed, what with all the tourists....going there on a cold, rainy day, in the middle of the winter, still has all the vendors, just a fewer people shopping...

Still, we expect a fun filled, jammed filled day at the Market...where else can I get my fortune told, buy fresh fish, fresh seafood, fresh meats and cheeses, local wines and wine from around the world, sample food from Turkey, China, Greece, India, or just local fare...then I can buy a doll, buy some teddy bears, buy some Mt. St. Helens glass or figurines, listen to street bands, see a puppet show, stare at the tourists, and local folks in odd gear, (once saw a Native American old lady, doing her shopping in a native dress made of tree bark)...

Then we can gaze out over Puget Sound, and view the Olympic mountains, see the ferry boats crossing, watch the motorboats whizzing by...watch the lovely sailboats just drift in the wind...

If we have any energy left, we can then go down into the Wharf, just below the Market, and get on a ferry boat, and cross back and forth, while sipping wine and beer...usually there are entertainers on the ferry boat as well...

One time we had out of town visitors, and we took them up to the Market, and then we all hopped on the ferry boat...There was an Irish band on board, who had been performing out on one of the islands, and as we were heading back for the return trip to Seattle, this band boarded, cracked out their instruments, and were playing lovely Irish waltzes...before you knew it, people were getting up and waltzing around the ferry boat...BigDom and I did a waltz ourselves...We were all quite sorry, when the boat pulled into Seattle, and the band stopped playing and we had to get off...no one wanted to leave...there is nothing quite so nice, as being slightly high, on wine, music, and dancing to an Irish band, all the while on a ferry boat, under the star lit sky...

This has been brought to you by "andysandmikesmom", an unofficial booster for the city of Seattle...come on up y'all....

Wow - I'm full and exhausted just reading about y'alls' adventures! Way to go guys, very nice.

Pike Place Market

Drats - they have a webcam, but it's down!
Just glancing at the site, I noticed that they offer online shopping - wondered if they can toss some fishes down to Austin?

The DDFolk are going to miss you bunches Mom, but I know Big D needs his down time away from the job, and Dizzy will manage to destroy something in your absence.

Have a super trip - we will be waiting for your report. JL
