Ragged Old Flag

I walked through a county courthouse square,
On a park bench an old man was sitting there.
I said, "Your old courthouse is kinda run down."
He said, "Naw, it'll do for our little town."
I said, "Your flagpole has leaned a little bit,
And that's a Ragged Old Flag you got hanging on it.

He said, "Have a seat", and I sat down.
"Is this the first time you've been to our little town?"
I said, "I think it is." He said, "I don't like to brag,
But we're kinda proud of that Ragged Old Flag."

"You see, we got a little hole in that flag there
When Washington took it across the Delaware.
And it got powder-burned the night Francis Scott Key
Sat watching it writing _Oh Say Can You See_.
And it got a bad rip in New Orleans
With Packingham and Jackson tuggin' at its seams."

"And it almost fell at the Alamo
Beside the Texas flag, but she waved on through.
She got cut with a sword at Chancellorsville
And she got cut again at Shiloh Hill.
There was Robert E. Lee, Beauregard, and Bragg,
And the south wind blew hard on that Ragged Old Flag."

"On Flanders Field in World War I
She got a big hole from a Bertha gun.
She turned blood red in World War II
She hung limp and low by the time it was through.
She was in Korea and Vietnam.
She went where she was sent by her Uncle Sam."

"She waved from our ships upon the briny foam,
And now they've about quit waving her back here at home.
In her own good land she's been abused --
She's been burned, dishonored, denied and refused."
"And the government for which she stands
Is scandalized throughout the land.
And she's getting threadbare and wearing thin,
But she's in good shape for the shape she's in.
'Cause she's been through the fire before
And I believe she can take a whole lot more."

"So we raise her up every morning,
Take her down every night.
We don't let her touch the ground
And we fold her up right.
On second thought I DO like to brag,
'Cause I'm mighty proud of that Ragged Old Flag."

Daschle Criticizes Bush, Republicans Strike Back

In my opinion, an Idiots own word's can damn the Idiot FAR more effectively than ANYTHING we could say ourselves.

2-BALLOT VOTERS FACE DOUBLE TROUBLE

So far, in partial checks of 11 states, the RNC has found that more than 140,000 people were registered to vote in two places - and 759 were recorded as casting two ballots.

:-)

Do notice that if Rats hadn't voted MANY times, then we would have won in 2000 by a LARGE margin. Multiply this total times a couple hundred precincts around the country... Dirty Lying Cheating Scumbag Rats!!!!!!!!!!!

*Vanity*

Have y'all seen that new 'Outback Steak House' ad?? In it, they show four separate families/couples/groups of people in a four way screen.

They people are all waiting breathlessly and excitedly to find out which persons will get the next table...

When it is announced, the 'winners' celebrate and make an 'acceptance' speech like they do at the Oscars. They are hawking the fact that you can now call ahead and be placed on the eons-long waiting list, instead of being added to page 649, in that tome.

What EXACTLY is this saying to potential customers??? To ME, it says that the service at Outback is so piss-poor, that you feel like celebrating IF and WHEN you MIGHT get a table.

I already WON'T ever eat at an Outback again for that VERY reason, but I wouldn't think that they would want to FLAUNT it. In my experience, I have walked into the 'Outbacks' around here, and at 9:30 at night on a weeknight, I have been told there was a TWO HOUR WAIT FOR A TABLE. And they DON'T serve food at 11:30 pm.

I don't go to popular restaurants unless they take reservations. I will wait 30 minutes after reservation time if seated in the bar. If not seated in the bar I am out of there 10 minutes after reservation time.

NO RESTAURANT, no matter how good or famous, has food good enough to consider demeaning yourself by waiting in line like Oliver Twist.

"Desperate Daschle Seeks Presidential Attention"

That about says it all. He's like a child throwing a temper tantrum because he isn't getting what he wants.

Convenient isn't it how they neglect even now to acknowledge that glaring fact. Kinda like when they were making such a fuss about "counting all the votes".......except of course, the military absentee ballots, which, as far as I know, never were counted.

I know that losts of folks like Outback but I have only been once about five years ago and decided then never to return. I remember the lousy service and a so-so steak. There are other chains that have much better food and excellent service. Longhorn (which may be regional) is such a place IMHO.

It's funny that you mention that one, because it is my favorite. (And not because of any 'Big-Haired Lady' either.) I have NEVER had to wait more than 30-35 minutes for a table, and that is at their busiest times, too.

I love their salmon and steak combo.

I am gonna try seafood for supper one of these days, if there is ever a national beef shortage. It is a great snack food.

Oh No .. I did it again ..

My one brother called .. the Republican one .. went on about Bush and Wall Street and then went as far as mentioning Nader would know how to handle these CEO's and Wall Street ..

I hung up on him twice and then called back and left a message that he was starting to sound like a Dems ..

I can't wait to hear his response .. LOL
