a loose or faulty fuel cap can trigger a "check engine" light, and if you are having to run that much fuel injector cleaner through your van, by all means. replace the fuel filter, and, if the injectors have never been serviced since your ownership of the vehicle, have an ASE certified shop do that as well. I think that you will be surprised with the results, and may even see increased performance and fuel economy.

I have had this van for about 3 years (since I lived in Washington) and now it has 57,000+ miles on it - I don't think the fuel filter has been replaced and the manual says it should be done at 30,000 miles. It may need a tune-up. I just get the oil changed and put in coolant - don't do much else. Time to do something else.

Hey rangeratt - good to see ya. I'm the one with the van problems today - will get it taken care of in the morning. We've only gone about 1100 miles on our trip so far - should have covered a little more ground than that by now.

I had a car that I had to trow in nuetral and rev up the gas every time I needed to stop. Everybody thought I wanted to drag race them! The fuel pump failed shortly after!

Sounds like you just need a fuel filter change (fairly cheap) or fuel injector cleaning (less cheap) but nothing major.

Just make sure you get it done before you takle the mountains!
