Family Truckster FYI:

Has anyone else had this problem? Once a month we have to put fuel injector cleaner in the van. If we don't, it shudders and almost dies until you take your foot off the brake so it gets a little gas. Also we can only use "good" gas (around here it's Shell). If we use cheap gas, the check engine light comes on and has to be reset. Any suggestions?

How many miles do you have on your Windstar?
We had a similar problem with the shudders but was solved by getting a tune-up....at around 40,000 miles. We now have 62,000 miles and it hasn't shuddered since. May want to get you fuel injectors checked by an independant mechanic to see if they are getting blocked or if there is some kind of gasoline deposites getting stuck to the injectors. Hope this helps.....Nick

I once had the problem due to crud in the gas tank. I had to have it removed and scrubbed out to remove some rubbery stuff that was slowly disolving into the gas and then clogging things
