How proud you must feel. Thanks for your story and picture. I have a daughter born in 1984 and am amazed how grown up they become in just a few years. Your son will be surrounded by prayers. He is faithful to the Lord and he will be protected. Our Lord has great plans for him.

Thank you for that beautiful Scripture verse, Dr. Scarpetta! The word of God that He will not leave us comfortless is a great assurance to us right now.
To: Rita289
Our Lord has great plans for him.Yes. Plans to prosper him, and not harm him.....plans to give him hope and a future.
We are resting on that promise.

Thanks for the ping. That is one neat kid. You have every right to be proud of him. It is people like you and your son who make me so proud to be an American.
To: ohioWfan
OhioWfan, you have a wonderful son. May the Lord entrust all who are dear to us to His never-failing care and love, knowing that He is doing for them better things than we can desire.
God Bless your son.

God Bless you and yours, oWf!
Eric is a fine looking young man, and from what you say, he is firm in his walk with Christ.
That will make all the difference in the world to him and you.
If you haven't already, please pass on to him that we are all very proud of him and praying for his success in all endeavors!

Thanks for the ping, Diver.
OWF, I am sure you have dedicated your son to the Lord and would not withdraw that for one second. He will honour that and care for Eric as one of His own.
I will pray for you that you will have peace of mind and heart as you are separated. Your pride in Eric is just and well deserved.
Thank you for sharing Eric with our wonderful Nation.

Thank you all for your kind words and for your prayers!
We entrusted Eric into the Lord's hands even before he was born, and we are thankful that he has chosen to follow Christ. He could have chosen otherwise.

Thank-you for pinging me. He makes me proud to be an American. And so do you. This is what freedom is all about.
To: w1andsodidwe; DittoJed2
This is what freedom is all about.Exactly. And we, as Americans must never take that freedom for granted!
DittoJed, looks like I missed you on my ping list, and I think you'll be interested in this.

Thank you so much for sharing your personal story with us. What a wonderful son you have! And thank Eric for his dedication and love of God, family & country......the very same values that all our patriots have fought to protect.
May God bless Eric and all who defend our Freedoms.

As the mother of
two jedis, my heart just broke when I read this, but I also understand your pride.
I imagine they won't allow you to contact him during basic training, but do they allow you to send letters and care packages? Could I send him one?
To: ohioWfan
Tell Eric, Thank You! I know you and your husband are very proud of him.

Well, when Eric was your boys' age, he was more of a Ninja Turtle, but he did go to the midnight showing of Episode II to cheer on the Jedi Knights! :o) We have an older son too who is a brilliant young man, considering work in the CIA after college. They go from little ones to big ones all too quickly, so treasure every moment with your adorable little Jedis!
We're supposed to hear in a week or so what Eric's address is, and how much contact we can have. I hope we can mail him a package or two, but we're new to this, so we'll have to wait and see what the deal is.
You wouldn't have to be too picky in what you sent him........he'll eat anything! LOL!
To: ClaraSuzanne
Thanks, CS, I will. And we are!
To: ohioWfan
May God bless and keep your son, Ohiofan. And we thank him for his service to our freedoms.
To: ohioWfan
ohioWfan, what a wonderful essay about your son. I'm in tears reading it here at work. What a handsome young man you have. We, the people, are blessed to have him as a part of our military. God Bless Eric, your family and all others who serve.
To: 2Jedismom
When my son and daughter were in basic training I sent care packages sometimes daily. Learned later the goodies were 'expropriated'! LOL. But they did get my daily letters with news from home and clips of their favorite comics, etc., from the newspaper.
