There is a very calm and reasoned post from Miss Marple on another thread.

I hve been on the phone and have just finished reading through this thread. I thought I would address come comments here in one reply:

The arrested person was a Puerto Rican, not a Mexican. He is a US citizen, and his passport reads Jose Padilla, not the Arabic name.

I agree that looking at people like the Israelis do is a good idea. The Israelis do not do profiling in the way it is being discussed by most people on this forum.

My objection to screening by ethnicity is that IT WON'T WORK. I have repeatedly pointed out the cases of John Walker Lindh and Richard Reid, and now we have Jose Padilla. I imagine sooner or later we will have some arrests that are blonde, blue-eyed Sven types as well. These people have been recruiting in our country for a long time.

The connection with a gang member is especially disturbing. I think there is a real danger in that connection.

To those who think profiling would get 90% of the terrorists, I would remind you that the 10% can do a heck of a lot of damage. I want to catch them ALL.

One thing I have speculated on is the possible connection of Islamic terrorists and other terrorist and subversive groups, and the fact that they might be hooked up with the anarchists and the eco-freaks, who have become increasingly violent over the last six years. If the eco-freaks and gang members are in on this, we have a problem way bigger than just the Arabs.

Finally, the reason this was released today is because he was transferred from DOJ custody to DOD custody. If they hadn't announced it, the democrats would be all over it as a secret police movement, and howling about Pueerto Ricans being targeted, etc. etc. The idea that they would stage an arrest in this type of situation is absolutely a DU idea, and deserves no consideration.

Thanks Ratt-man. I'll tell her. Talked to her about 1 min. this am. She ain't doin so good. The Judge left this morning going over to take care of his "charge" as he calls her. They are havin a memorial service for him in France on Tuesday. That's all I know for sure. I'm tryin to tend to houses and cars and her dog. This dog has got a punk knot on her nose. I think old Wings did sumpin to her. I'll catch ya later.

As far as allowing Islamic terrorist recruiters into prisons because Christians go in, too, let's not fall into the trap of categorizing their organizations and prison charities as a "religion." It isn't a religion. It's a subversive movement.
How many two-bit Chicago gang member ex-cons are world travellers? Mosques and Islamic "charities" paid Jose's way to Pakistan and Afghanistan and back. Funds were probably collected under the tax-exempt guise as charitable contributions to a "religious organization." It's one more crime.

Another government official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the intelligence that led to Mujahir's arrest came from captured Al Qaeda leader Abu Zabaydah during recent interrogations.

They probably took him to wherever Zabaydah is being held so the same investigators could question him.

Could be. Wasn't Zabaydah taken to Gitmo at first then moved to an undisclosed location ? Apparently, the environment wherever he is being held is condusive to singing like a bird. LOL If all his information is verifiable and proves reliable then we need more of those undisclosed locations hehehe

I agree that they are subversive and dangerous, but the point I was making is that our law will not differentiate between Christianity and Islam because Islam is considered a religion.

I don't think there is any reason Congress can't pass a bill defining Islam as not a religion, making it unprotected under the First Amendment

My point is that our law needn't accept the Islamic organizations that go into prisons as a "religion." They meet the criteria of a subversive terrorist group - a criminal gang. That's reason enough to keep them out. The gov't is already raiding the Islamic "charities" that support terrorism abroad, confiscating funds, revoking tax exempt status. If they can do that, they can ban the connected groups from recruiting in prisons. The "religion" is a front for the international money-laundering and illegal arms dealing network that is destabilizing countries all around the world. It's a religion like a Sicilian pizza parlor owned by a mafia family is a religion.

There was a caller who apparently had some first hand knowledge of potential attacks but wouldn't turn anyone in to authorities because he wasn't a snitch! He was talking about what a risk he was taking even calling the program. He just said there is a lot more to come and that America isn't free. I thought they might try to keep him on the phone to give opportunity to trace the call.
