An Open letter to Jim Robinson: Can the Bush-Bashers
none ^ | today | me

Dear Mr. Robinson,

I have been a loyal member of the Free Republic since before the 2000 election. I have been a Conservative since the early days of Clinton. When I found this site, I thought "Thank God, people who think like me." I have continued to think this until the more recent days. Now, it seems that there are threads left and right bashing our President.

Why? There are things the President has done which I don't agree with but my loyality still lies with him. I am not sure if these "Bush-Bashers" fail to see the reality that with politics comes comprimise or it is something worse. I feel there is a cancer in the Free Republic. Some are eating their own.

I feel that some of these people are members of the dreaded democratic underground disguised as disgruntled conservatives. They are only here to stir up trouble. What's worse, they are doing just that. I am not sure what I think you should do.

As a conservative, I believe in our moral code but I also realize the reality of politics. I back our President but if he were doing something unsavory (like lying under oath,) I could not support him. This is unlike the left's clintonista dogma. What President Bush is doing is not betraying the conservative cause. He is using politics to confound the left. Those who do not understand this are either leftists themself or unable to separate themselves from their zealousness.

This is your show. You choose who gets to be a member and who does not. Those who break your rules are banished from the kingdom. I am not discouraging free speech, but this is free speech in your forum. These Bush-Bashers are brining us down. When this infighting happened in 1992, Bill Clinton got elected. let's not let that happen again.

Yours,

Big Guy and Rusty 99

Maybe mercy is Ma Richards. She used to use the empty suit comment about then Governor Bush all the time when she ran against him. Mercy sure showed if a DemocRAT talks long enough they will spit out their talking point papers. The empty suit comment is the tradmark of Ma!

You can't "fight them with facts". They don't want facts - WHAT THEY WANT IS TO SEE YOU GET UPSET AND RANT AND RAVE AT THEM. You see, the goal is to upset you - not discuss issues that you disagree about. The goal is to watch you explode! Sooooo, everytime you take the bait and start trying to give them "facts", they will change the subject and start attacking Bush on some other issue. Check it out for yourself.

The best way to fight them is to ignore them. I have written down a list of those who are the worst abusers of this little game - and everytime I see them gathering at a thread and starting their game - I just leave the thread.

Remember, these people do not want to discuss issues - they want to upset you - that is the whole goal they are after. Then they go other places and tell people how nasty FReepers are.

The ball's in your court - you just don't have to throw it back to them, and you can't have an argument if there is no one to argue with.

I'm not playing that game. You have your idea about what he has done to disappoint you and nothing I can say is going to change your mind.

Just try not to take to your bed with a case of the vapors, acting like you and you alone know what the "real" conservative values are.

As I quoted to you, the latest GOP polls show that Bush doing very well with the conservatives in the party.

I'm impressed with all of your accomplishments. But, my comment was concerning the President. Have you been able to sit down and have a conversation with him? Do you know some of the things that burden his heart for this country? Have you seen at least one of the threat assessments that he sees daily? Have you had an opportunity to sit in on one of the weekly breakfasts with Party Leadership? To see how they are constantly undermining his leadership after their meetings.? How they intentionally fight against his nominations in giving him his team to accomplish his goals.

For me, in light of these things it's difficult to say with such authority that he lacks a spine or is not tough or is weak.

I wish FR had a logic section

Yes, Euclidian logic is one of the highest forms of man's expression and thought. Pitty so few have ever take the time to read it let alone master it.

I dunno, I know they were expecting 19 million religious right voters and only got 15 million. He'll get more of them next time.

I think voters are sick of RINO's in the Republican party,

Talk about delusional. You do know that Rinos are well known when they are elected and when it comes to their "voters" they have stated that a Rino is what they want. Don't get too cocky about Simon in California, I hope he wins, but I don't put his chances very high.

You get over yourself. One who cannot see the writing plainly emblazoned on the wall is not one whose advice I treasure. Bush is not who you blindly wish he would be. He is just plain NOT. I don't know why you bushies think you can make it so just by wishing but you need to overcome this highly destructive delusional behavior. Rember. You heard it here first. In a couple years or so it will be plain to even your fanciful self.

Ya that one is a bit curious, except that under Nadar economic activity would be so truncated that government would have to shrink, or course starting with the DOD and FBI and CIA. So the risk of jack booted thugs breaking into your home would be materially reduced, at least those with American citizenship.

ITs beyond that. Its time for Jim to start weeding. He has done it before and its needed again.

"And why do we use Bill Clinton as our standard for decency and honor?"

It wasn't my intention to do so. Clinton is the standard for how low you can go. Condit may have let that standard go even lower.

Hey! I'll bet this thread hits 1000 before the night is over.

I'd like to widen the proposal if it hasn't already been done.

(I haven't had time to read all the replies, there is one every 5 seconds)

Ban anyone who criticizes the President, Vice President, any Cabinet Member
or any sitting Republican member of the House or Senate.

Ah, is that suppose to be a rational statement?

Update on Andy Card -- he was asked about those comments and he came right out and said they were fiction -- same as the blue rug Esquire said was on the floor of his office. He stated he did not make those comments! He said he deals in non-fiction and Esquire dealt with fiction. Will someone tell me why all of a sudden whatever appears in articles, people on here believe? Since when has Esquire been nice to a Republican! They are the magazine of the clinton picture and articles about him!

The pie in the sky bushies think he is going to magically transform himself into a true conservative after he wins a majority in the Senate. He will not and he will not.

Mercy me, and you're getting all of this from your crystal ball or psychic friends?
