I am a big Hasek fan and fell in love with him when I lived in Buffalo. I will enjoy his winning the cup if Detroit wins. Though his hate for America gets on my nerves.

The league needs to make up its mind. They keep threatening to call delay of game penalties for objects on the ice (thanks Panthers) but they dont do it. Either shut the hell up or start calling it.

1) Mighty Mights could have gotten off more than 2 shots on 6 power plays. The Canes PP sucked ass. As it usually does.

I'll give you this, partially. Realize that sometimes it has a lot to do with the defensive side. The wings had several power plays with 0 shots too.

2) Lindstroms and Drapers goals should have never happened. Irbe looked like he had money on Detroit with those save attempts

That's a paltry excuse. Irbe got beat on those goals by great shots. They were not shots that just fluttered by his glove, but bullets that I bet clocked more than 90+mph. Any goalie would have had a hard time. And Irbe did a great job this game, again, at keeping the score low. He made two spectactular saves on Federov.

3) Lindstoms and Drapers goals should have never been needed. The score should have been 5-1 at that point. 3 open net shots missed that are normally made 9 out of 10 times. Plus some other lucky saves by Irbe.

Three? I think I could agree with you on Federov's, but I don't get where the other two come from.

The only thing that's pissing me off about this series is how the refs are calling it. I saw atleast 3 penalties that I believe where lame.

I think they will only make that delay of game call if the fans are abusive. i.e. Several octupi at one time, or many throughout the game, 1 or two won't do it. This way the best of both worlds are allowed, the fans can keep traditions going, yet the game doesn't suffer.

The other ones were whats his names that he launched like a sand wedge over a wide open net. He looked to the sky knowing he blew an easy goal. And whats his name who threw a 'slow roller' at Irbe and Irbe got his glove down. There is a pic of it above.

They are calling the game way to tight. True that the refs and league sat down with the teams prior to game 1 and told they would call it tight. But even Melrose was saying they were being way to tight. The worst call of them all was the "slash" that Carolina took at the end. How often, outside of a blatant slash or highstick to the face does a penalty get called with under 2 minutes to go in a SCF? Never.

I agree. If an ocutopus comes out after a goal, fine. But during a stoppage for no reason other than you gotta throw it sooner or later? If they are gonna call it, the one late in the game last night should have been called.

Of course, the Panthers fans were throwing 100's of rats on the ice at a time and the league had to do something about it.

Shanny is married with children, so I guess my White House date will have to be Federov.

Panthers fans actions threatened to end one of the greatest traditions in hockey. Not something to be proud of.

The problem with the rats was that people would go to the dollar store and by 10 of them and the number on the ice was in the high hundreds, if not well over a 1,000 causing massive delays. If Detroit fans threw 500 Octupi on the ice, I would have a problem with that and it would be appropriate for the league to take action.

Maybe the panthers should have instituted a "Rat Cannon" or something that shot a large rat on the ice after a goal and not allow fans to throw any on the ice. And call a delay of game if they do.

All things can be worked out to make almost everyone happy. I liked the throwing of the rat, thought it was great. But it did get out of control.

I will never forget the sight of goalies like Patrick Roy hiding under the net to avoid the rats raining down on him

That's always a good site to see.

Then you also gotta love Buffalo getting the Wings' first round pick if Hasek wins the cup :)
