Great pics - looks as if the rain will miss Sodom once more.

One of your critters is a Praying Manitis - from the way the forelegs are held. The other handsome devil appears to be a Stink Bug - if you jack with him, you'll find out why it's such an appropriate name.

Men are now wearing women's bras? Good grief, wouldn't you think they would make panty hose for men as well as bras for men!

This one was fascinating - I have no idea what it is

It is usually called a blister bug, for good reason.

Well they started to gang up on him and defending the Dems ... they wanted to know how he could possible say the Dems were using this as a political game to attack the president

Of course Ari tried to be nice but they would not stop especial that John King

So then Ari said that when news of the memo was released .. Mayor Bloomberg called the President to find out what was going on and that the Mayor said he trusted the President and that the President if he had known would have done everything possible to stop 9/11

And that Hillary the Senator of NY did not do that ..she did not call the President to find out what was going on .. that instead she went straight to the Senate floor and accused the President of hiding something and that he should be more truthful with what he knows ..

And that is why Ari believes the Dems are playing a political game

Of course those aren't the exact was he she .. but close

I hope you're not serious!

I am, quite serious. I see little benefit from driving "bad" behaviour underground. I think recognizing such unions would reduce promiscuity in that community a bit and slow the spread of disease and death a little.

I don't have to like the behavior, but I sure can't change them either. Gotta work with what we've got...

***************

Most of these articles have spelling oddities/errors--but I have left them in because that is the way they're printed today, and presumably that is the way they were printed back then. I've left uncapitalized the words the newspaper has not capitalized, i.e., river--even when referring to Salmon River. And as it regards the 'snipped' section 50 years ago, it was about a meeting and had a long list of names of people who attended.

Ratty--thought you might enjoy the tobacco article in the 60 years ago section.

Cuttnhorse---what is fistula and poll-evil that is spoken of in the 80 Years Ago section?

Val....in 100 Years Ago, you'll find an interesting way to describe a 'terrible' storm.....

Aren't the recycling bins green??

sl, they seem to have all sorts of recycling bins in various colors meant to indicate the type of item that should be placed in a particular bin. Together with the numerous billboards having not too subtle reminders that say things such as "Only Nazis, Traitors and Republicans Pollute," "Green is God" and "Recycle or Die You Right Wing Pig," the bins tend to get in the way of the scenery.

You're welcome.

I quite smoking 359 days days ago, but still found it interesting that a carton, 10 packs of cigarettes, could be had for 85 cents!!!

I've been tracing my family tree, and while doing so, have tried to collect information pertinent to the era in which they lived.

Not long ago, my brother stopped by the house and dropped off a manila envelope full of papers. Seems as though a very good friend of his parents' died and the man was clearing out all the stuff in their house and had asked my brother to stop by [I think to look at the guns]. Anyways, the parents had been ranchers in the 30s, 40s, 50s, and 60s here in Lemhi Valley.

These papers were the papers they used to track their expenses, income, crop yields, etc. on a daily/weekly/monthly basis for the Farm Security Administration. The man was going to throw these away, so Ray explained to him what I was doing and asked if he could take a few for my use....

It is amazing how so many details of these farming folks' lives were laid out there in black and white....just one little entry: 2/24/41 2 Rugs, bought from Gambles, on contract. They paid down $3.84, and paid $2.00 per month from March thru July and a single payment of $1.75 in August. The total cost for the two rugs was $15.59.

They even had to list all their household furnishings....not just refrigerator and washing machines, but lamps, dishes, bed linens, kitchen utensils. Their income for the family of 4 was $1529.60. They had to list the foods they canned. Under the monthly listings, they have to record everything they buy....from salt to nails, to oil and gas....and the prices are recorded.

While these folks aren't mine, I have a better picture of costs of goodstuffs, gas and oil, and farming practices, etc. It's a shame no one in their family cared...

40% of men in their 30s and 40s have problems removing bras. It adds a recent test found men spent an average of 27 seconds taking them off using both hands.

The Ratty Generation: Fumbling, Stumbling, Bumbling. Of course, they never had the training opportunities that a double feature drive-in movie provided.

Mo, I finally found a story I first saw last night but that no one else in the press picked up on.

Yes, President Bush had become aware of the danger of a non-specific terrorist attack prior to 9-11. In early August 2001 he requested a national security briefing on the treats while on vacation. By early September a plan had been formulated to dismantle or eliminate Al-Qaida terroist cells in Afghanistan and in some 60 countries around the world. It was given to the President 2 days before 9-11 but he had not had time to review it much less act on it before we were attacked. So, in 8 short months President Bush had identified the danger we faced and was preparing to act. That is something the previous administration had not done in 8 long years.

As far as I can tell, NBC's Jim Miklaszewski is the only reporter who has bothered to report on this pertinent story. U.S. planned for attack on al-Qaida
