AMERICA - The Right Way!! (Day 470) [Remember the Trade Center!!]
Various News Sources and FReepers | May 5, 2002 | All of Us

Posted on 05/05/2002 4:32:13 AM PDT by Chairman_December_19th_Society

We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail! [President Bush]

Good morning!! Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who gave their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!

More mailbox bombs have been found in six locations in Nebraska: Seward, Columbus, Ohiowa, Davenport, Scotia and Dannebrog. Authorities said each device was accompanied by a letter. These devices were not mailed, but rather placed in the mailboxes.

Scientists say they have found the earliest known fossilized remains of a flower, in China. The plant is believed to have lived 125 million years ago.

Spiderman opened to record box office receipts.

For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.

Boodles would have been better, in my estimation; but it was mighty fine, that Tanqueray TEN Bone Dry Martini, up, one olive, which we drank in tillacum's honor, imagining the 3rd green....

If you check the IP address of this post, you will find that your 64 bit encryption doesn't stand up to some of the tools to hack wireless LANs. Har! Who's the GEEK? Seriously. Look at some of the hacking tools. I won't run wireless lan yet. Unless I get peer to peer encryption running all the way up to layer 4.

It was a dark and stormy morning. No kidding. I set the alarm wrong, and woke up a couple of minutes late. (Thank You, Jesus, for an internal alarm in my brain, such as it is). I rush though the morning routine an dive into the truck through the rain. (killing my wonderfully starched uniform).

I left my lighter and my belt on the fireplace. I'm rushing because I'm late, but the best speed I can make is 40 MPH because of the FREAKING RAIN!. For 40 miles. The last 30 I did very fast (but legally, mostly, for all the Texas DPS guys out there). I was 8 minutes late. No dings on my record. Except they now think I'm crazy for driving through it.

Well, I got 64-bit encryption -- Gold Level -- running already -- verrrry niiiiiiice!!!! And the IP address of my posts is that of my router (which is my gateway/firewall/proxy), NOT my workstation, which is 10.n.n.n anyway (not routable)...

But I agree, 802.11a/b/c is not security-ready, yet -- but on the other hand, I am a nobody who no one even knows I exist yet anyway; should I flatter myself to think that there are people out there just waiting to get into my home network via 802.11b, to see...what? My MP3's??

They can't get at me via my cable modem connection; I have a two-layer firewall, and I have disabled all the Microtrash that sends like a beacon in the night: "I'm here!!!"

But, just in case, I am running tripwires and intrusion detectors...;)

ALL networking is a tradeoff...anytime you connect 2 devices with wires and don't restrict two-way comm, you have a security risk...It's just too convenient for me to be able to be mobile for at least a couple of hundred yards...

I am a nobody who no one even knows I exist yet anyway;

Bit, meet the world. World, meet Bit.

They don't care about you, per se. We... er.. they want your bandwidth. Very evil people. Nasty persons. About 5'9", red hair, oops.... Swarthy persons... that's it.

use my cell phone with my laptop to dial to the internet,

I was going to do that too, except with the PDA instead of the lap-top (me being geekier than thou). My uncle asked that I not do that. For some reason. Go figure.

Thou art not Geekier; I dial into my local network while away, and actually use my home cable modem connection for internet traffic. I can get at everything on my network as if I were there, including controlling servers and workstations (both Linux and Microcrap) via VNC.

And, the local dialup has softswitch software; one side is voice-mail/IVRS pbx; the other is my ppp...I rejected the PDA solution because my laptop IS my business; can't bother with PDA (atleast not in current incarnations) when all the stuff I need is on my laptop...
