use my cell phone with my laptop to dial to the internet, I was going to do that too, except with the PDA instead of the lap-top (me being geekier than thou). My uncle asked that I not do that. For some reason. Go figure.

Thou art not Geekier; I dial into my local network while away, and actually use my home cable modem connection for internet traffic. I can get at everything on my network as if I were there, including controlling servers and workstations (both Linux and Microcrap) via VNC.
And, the local dialup has softswitch software; one side is voice-mail/IVRS pbx; the other is my ppp...I rejected the PDA solution because my laptop IS my business; can't bother with PDA (atleast not in current incarnations) when all the stuff I need is on my laptop...
