LOL. Fun bad. :) Yes, but it's getting better now, in some places. Has improved for the past few years. One of the most beautiful services I've ever seen, was one of the old Catholic ones. Couldn't understand one word of it, but boy did it feel good. :) I love tradition and custom. I feel there was a reason folks did things that way. It worked. To me, it doesn't work out, to try to "modernize" the Bible. I feel like God, being God, had enough sense to say what he meant. These are just my thoughts. I don't know much about these things. I'm not a very good Baptist. :(

"I've wanted to use "antepenultimate" in a real sentence for YEARS!!!" Congratulations Nully. Now let's see you use it in a funkle! It's good to have goals.
DONE!!!
and good to acheive them, too...

Congratulations Nully.

The big difference between the Catholics and the Anglicans is that they do not recognize the POPE. It was Henry the 8th who broke away from the church because the Pope at the time would not permit a divorce from Catherine of Aragon of Spain. OK .. thanks .. it's all coming back to me ..

Throw in that progressive, liberal movement of the 60's, plus the Christian thing of "forgiveness," and it makes a real mess. Those in leadership, who try to improve things, sometimes don't. I think this is a case of that. :) I know I'm not getting across what I'd like to, but, not very good at this. One of your Popes put it like this. (Can't remember which one said this.) The devil moved into the Vatican in the 60's. Makes sense to me. That is when most of these movements to leave tradition, and the Bible behind, began. I I understand what you mean and it makes perfect sense ..

I prefer to think of it like this: God's word is powerful enough to transcend every translation and corruption of language which is why no matter how many languages the Bible is translated into, the meaning remains the same in essence. I mean God knew He was revealing His perfect word through imperfect men, but as it says "it shall not return to Him empty but shall accomplish the purpose for which He sent it forth." This creates a real problem for the revisionists because there are just some things in scripture that are clear as can be and the only way to make them say anything other than what they actually say is to either delete, rewrite, or create and inaccurate context in which to cast them. All of these things are unacceptable.

Whew. Love you girlfriend. See you later. :) LOL .. it's okay to talk about all of this and the church .. it is in the news
Besides the topic has been avoided for far to long .. like I said .. maybe this is God's way of cleaning house .. and if it stops these bad priests from abusing children then only good can come of it all ..

4. When relaxing, you sit with
(a) your knees bent with your legs neatly side by side
(b) your legs crossed
(c) your legs stretched out or straight
(d) one leg curled under you
5. When something really amuses you, you react with

"...there IS an individual confession of sins. -snip- . Check the Book of Common Prayer. However, unlike the Roman Catholic church, it is NOT essential or required. I would go so far as to say that many Episcopalians do not even know that it exists."
I'm sure that's true. Basically, what our former rector, now our Bishop, says about Espiscopalians and confession is: "Some do, Most don't, All should". When he was our priest he had 10am on Saturday mornings set aside for confessions. We don't have a confessional in our church so one of the priest would sit in the next to the last pew facing forward. When you entered you only had to take a few steps to be seated in the last pew. He sat there with his back turned to you and heard your confession. Our current priest has done away with that schedule all together and now there is a note in the weekly bulletin that reads:
Confessions may be scheduled by appointment at a time and date convenient to both parisioner and priest.
LOL. That's one of the reasons I call us, Catholic-lite.

They can try to change the wording but they can change the true meaning ..
God gave man free will .. the will to choose the right road or the wrong road and in the end we will find out if we choose the right one or not
OK .. I think I just confused myself .. lol

As I mentioned to Mo earlier, there IS an individual confession of sins. ... I would go so far as to say that many Episcopalians do not even know that it exists. This one didn't though we were fairly high church, and I was an Altar Boy.

I grew up in high church also and still attend one but I can only recall random references to confession ever. However, sweetliberty is right, it is right there in the Book of Common Prayer. :)

If you ever want to see a real blood bath, come to the Baptist church when we are trying to elect a new Organist. :) The Catholic Church's problem has been Priests who were also practicing Organists.
