Not being Catholic, I'm not going to get worked up over it. The Catholic leaders who took a vocal stance against homosexuality and sexual depravity were blasted to heck and back by the very same people who are now accusing them of "bad" sexual behavior. I'm glad that Cardinal O'Connor (whose church was invaded many times by Queer Nation and other ACT UP perverts throwing condoms and baring asses and disturbing mass in every foul manner) is spared this hypocricy of the sanctimonious secular left. Even Bernstein is getting in on the act with a book.

They need exposure to real art (and real life). Val .. it was just a poem that touched their heart .. they put themselves in that poem and thought what if that was my little girl .. that is all
And I believe it is the same poem I posted here on the Freeoples thread last week and yes it also made me cry
My father was not a fireman .. not a policeman or anyone important to any one else .. but he was my hero and I know the feeling and it was real life

Only 3 of the US Cardinals showed up for their joint press conference. The others had "prior commitments" IMO .. it is because there is a which hunt with the Media

I'm glad that Cardinal O'Connor ... is spared this hypocricy of the sanctimonious secular left. I am not Catholic either, and I pay little or no attention to the left. I have been reading and listening to the Catholic Right. Listening to people who have been 100% behind the church as long as I have been around. They don't have to satisfy me at all.
I don't think those people, except Shawn Hannity, will accept this as adequate. If they don't satisfy the Catholic Right, donations will mostly stop, and the legal judgements will bankrupt the Church and put it out of business.

Someone went crying to the admin moderator and I got chastised (and mispresented) --- I think my unstated "crybaby" point was proved. You haven't been calling people a doodoo head again have you?

It didn't get that far - the admin moderator saved the day.

Val .. it was just a poem that touched their heart .. they put themselves in that poem and thought what if that was my little girl .. that is all Maureen, I was the one who started it, just like I did last time. I will put a gold star beside your name on the list of wimin who think I should keep my mouth shut. It is a growing list. Valerie can't help herself, she can't stand to be left out of a fight. She must be Irish.

Swervie .. I saw the thread and I saw what happen and I didn't jump in on that thread because it was none of my business
And as for keeping your mouth shut .. I would be the last to tell you to shut up .. but if you go over board (which you have done) I will comment on that

Mo, if there was an ounce of genuine emotion on that thread before I posted I'll eat your hat. That pack of ninnies did not get real until they attacked me, then their tender side was really exposed. Tender side = bare a$$. They have "feelings" for fakery, but not for a real person who has been through real loss and dares to challenge them to reach deeper or give it up.
I do compare that unoriginal reworked poem to Elton John's weepy song for a dead blonde - any famous dead blonde will do. If you criticize Elton's song, then you must hate all blonde people and wish them dead and unmourned.
You lost your father when you were a little girl, so it can touch something inside you that is still young and raw and will always be - but these adults have no excuse for being so defensive as if it is personal. If one of them is a little girl who lost her father on 9-11, I'll post a HUGE public apology.

Val .. I am not getting into this fight with you ..
I don't claim to know your experiences of what your life has been like .. but I can try to understand which is also like trying to understand a poem or a song or even a painting ..
It is a feeling .. an understanding .. not an experience

What thread are y'all talking about?

"There is still controversy about whether Syphilis is a New World or Old World disease." It is my understanding that that was the affliction of Henry VIII that caused his sterility.
To: ValerieUSA
"Do all limericks have to include the word "Nantucket"?" NO. I understand that "Lewinsky" can be substituted.
