Just reading a part of the hometown paper and came across this from "The Early Days of Lemhi County."

Frank Williams, who operates a power woodsaw, lost the thumb of his left hand at the Oliver ranch when the hand was accidentally drawn into the saw by a willow branch. Jagged fragments of the severe wound were trimmed and the injury dressed by Dr. Stratton, the patient refusing the application of even a local anesthetic but unflinchingly bearing the pain during the ordeal.

Wow, was I mistaken about the flowers I thought were burgundy or black irises. They're not they're bright red daylillies and they are beautiful. I've never seen daylillies that color before. I also have a few red ones with a white stripe, haven't seen those before either. They're planted along side the irises and so I assumed they were all irises.

Hey there - I've finally caught up with my required reading. Tough indeed; circular saw off a thumb and refuse drugs? Course it was probably a shot or three of whiskey, and dude probably was halfway in shock to start with.

Dentist must need money - making "deep gum cleaning" noises, but I told him to stick with the shallow cleaning and I'd consider better flossing, or something. ;-)
