but New Mexico still has winter, and March is cold and muddy

instead of leaves they have long thin tendrils
(like 'icicles'' you throw at christmas trees)
their trunks and branches are green too
(bet that's how it got its name)
now they are in full flower
tucson is aglow in yellow flowers
